Really admire this type of photo journalism.
Awsome!

Fantastic photography, very poignant for me as my niece is currently out in Afghan.

Fantastic...and life is so easy here at home in comparison.

Fantastic photographs, and apologies for being a bore, but IMHO No 27 shouldn't be on view as in contravenes Article 13 of the 3rd Geneva Convention on PoWs as interpreted by the ICRC.

This made me chuckle though:

A Marine plays with a duck as he takes a break...

since when has the USA bothered with pesky things such as international conventions? ;)

I know - hence the boring comment! :D

FWIW we as Brits have been just as guilty at times, and yet quick to complain when the tables are turned; vis the RN iPod incident!

Stunning images there - really enjoyed those.

#16 is not "watching a fire"... he's burning poo!!!

#27... the Geneva Convention only governs "war" (as defined as a conflict between two nation-states). It does not apply to counter-insurgency as the combatants are not the soldiers of a nation-state. Picky, you might think, but rules are rules. Is what you see "right"... that is for each of us to decide.

I love Mr Frayer's B&W aerial shots (36-48). Excellent use of B&W there. Stunning.

We could argue that one 'til the cows come home due to the varying interpretations of what a Nation State actually is and whether the population are covered by a Nation being a signatory. However since you are involved with Slime central I'll defer to you on the basis that it's a great photograph, although you could have used the get out clause that they were captured by the ANP and not a recognised military force, which makes it a civil matter! :p

Oh there's *always* a get out clause :D

superb as ever!

the big picture is always amazing, whenever i'm not feeling the love for photography i take a browse and it all comes flooding back :D

Some amazing images taken in touch conditions, full respect for pressing the button let alone all the other elements that make up the final image.

Awesome photography. I'd love a job doing that sorta thing.

i'm not sure i'd want to be near the guy who's scraping the earth away to remove a home made bomb though :shake:
