The BBC really dont sense check anymore !

Yes, barking IMO and so simple to 'make it right '

'More yellow alerts for rain and thunderstorms that bring a threat of flash floods'

Was it a Gen Z writer perhaps

just had to go out to take my wife to an eye appointment and boy its grim

We were in an Amber area alert for thunderstorms but thankfully no storms just periods of good steady rain with intervals of heavy rain. A world good for the garden..........the grass is so brown and the ground like hardpan!

Here in the North East we've had a good 8 hrs of rain with some thunder rain mixed in, no actual thunder or lightning. My Davis weather station is reporting 26.7mm for today from about 11.30am.

The thunder rain has flattened the hanging baskets and troughs, but they should bounce back.

I think there is a tendency in certain circles to underestimate the wags at the BBC ;)

After all, they got away with Around the Horn in the 1960's
I always recall the Goons, ' This is the BBC' - and let that be a lesson to you !

...you know it will be biblical.
There's an untrustworthy source for you.

Apparently, someone once worked out that the Ark would have to be the size of London, to hold a pair of every species on the planet!

(I make no representations for the accuracy of the above claim ;) )

I was thinking more plague of Egypt than Noah.

Anyway, the ark story is suspiciously like a story that was inserted into Gilgamesh (but doesn't really fit there) that is probably earlier than Noah.

Anyone who's read that story knows it had to be aliens with advanced weapon systems. :naughty:

Plagiarism! Who'd have thought it...

My Bold..ie the Bible.

Pete Hegseth ,US Defence Secretary, was recently giving evidence to a House Armed Services Committee about using the US military to deal with the demonstrations .He was asked by Senator Elissa Slotkin if he would give the order to shoot live ammunition at the legs of protesters .She said the previous Defence Sec. had written in his book that he had been given that order by Trump and refused to carry it out ....so...would Hegseth refuse ? Just listen to his answer near the end but it's worth listening to from the start as it's only just over four minutes.

His evasion and obfuscation is very 'telling' about either his lack of understanding of the matter or he simply doesn't know how to answer! Perhaps because he fears placing himself in Trumps cross hairs and losing his job?
