The AQ test

Seems a bit flawed to me. you have no "neutral option" just levels on one side or the other.

Agree: 5,7,12,20,33: 1 point
Disagree: 1,10,24,28,29,30,32,36,40: 1 point
Score: 14

Dont know if that is good or bad?

It means you're only about average, Gareth! Hahaha!

They reckon the higher the score, the more traits you display... I scored 10. And just like 83.7256% of my friends, I'm not obsessed with numbers!

38. No great surprise there, then. I would have, of course, preferred the results in tabular or graph form.

For the record I got a score of 47, not surprising!!

I have spent some time researching this and it would be great if anyone with a score above 33 could tell us what they do for a living.

Score over 30, I assume?
Served my time as an electrician, Coal Mining.
After the pit shut, I was a machine technician/setter.
I'm now a night-concierge.

Is quite interesting when you read the research done on this.

It seems that virtaully no females score above 34.

Indeed, and they didn't even justify the results into columns, very poor...

Yeah, ok, result was 42 *shrug*

I scored 14, is that good, bad, or indifferent????

spike

I scored 9. Probably something to do with my absolute hate of routine!

It is a test that is often used to test for autism, or autism linked behaviour.

A score above 32 suggests that you may be autistic or have autistic tendencies.

Agree: 2,4,5,6,7,16,20,22,26,33,35,39,41,43,46: 1 point
Disagree: 8,10,11,14,15,17,25,27,31,32,34,36,38,44,47,48,50: 1 point
Score: 32

Quite a definitive benchmark then.

It's not much worse than the 'official' diagnostic methods, of which there is considerable dispute as to whether you can really diagnose it (in fact, when I raised the issue of my fears of being somewhere on the autistic spectrum to a doctor, she told me 'we can't test for that, so stop being so stupid' - the NHS at its best :bang: ).

That said, this particular test isn't the best I've seen, the one that I put most faith in is about 400 questions and in the end rates you on 2x 6 or so direction XY plots which illustrate autistic tendancies, and social mindedness.

That said, I've always scored way higher than 'normal' on those tests, so I don't care what a doctor says... And yes, for the record, I'm yet another female that scores high. I'll go sit in the corner with Crocky and sit in silent social awkwardness together :D

29 here - so slightly higher than average. I don't rate this as a test at all though. The scoring assigns exactly the same marks whether you definitely agree or slightly agree (and same for disagree) so it had may as well be a simple "yes or no" answer to each question. Not to mention that there were some that I was completely neutral on, so a bit hit and miss as to which side I decided to score myself.

Incidentally, I didn't think you could actually diagnose "autism" as such. As I understood it, it's more a scale of tendencies with everyone falling somewhere within the spectrum
