Hello,
My name is Alex and I'm from Portsmouth. Been nosing around the forums for a little while. Unfortunately I didn't discover this place until I chose my first camera for my venture into photography.
Of course I've taken pictures before, but only point and shoot with no consideration towards composition or lighting - let alone apperture, shutter, etc.
As I wasn't sure if photography was for me I stopped short of the DSLR market and picked up a Panasonic FZ45 due to it being a reasonably inexpensive all rounder (I was set to get the 38, but then the 45 came out and I took a gamble that it would follow suit).
With the help of a book and various internet resources I've made a start with going out and getting some shots with my new camera, I'm enjoying it (with a spattering of frustration) and am now looking to participate in a community to help me discover my mistakes. Oh, and try and figure out where to start with post processing - I've stared at many a photo so far without knowing where to start with any of them!
Of course as I (hopefully) progress, I'd be happy to pass on lessons learnt to anyone else walking a similar path to me.
