That's understandable and I do struggle a bit at times to get the use out of it I should given my phone and other cameras can do video although I think that's my mindset I need to change.

I haven’t used the other ones but I am very impressed with the video quality from such a small sensor.

Yeah I could easily use one of my other cameras for videos and just buy a gimble but the small size and portability of this make it much more likely I will make use of it. I think it will work well for what I will use it for.

I do understand not everyone may feel the same but surely it’s no hardship to just scroll past the posts you’re not interested in? I guess if there’s a lot of people that don’t like it then we could have a vote? :thinking:

Well. As you asked.

Mrs WW returned from her travels but she'd been unavoidably delayed for almost 4 months and missed our wedding anniversary, her birthday and Christmas in the UK. She insisted that I kept the tree up until she came back so that we could have a Christmas together while she opened her mountain of anniversary, birthday and Xmas prezzies and cards so that's what we did.

Here she is opening a card, A7 (which is still working) and Sony 35mm f1.8 at f1.8.

We've had the usual days out... Whitby single shot and then a pan, A7III and 40mm f2.5.

No hood fitted and there's some flare here but I don't mind it.

Yorkshire scene, A7III and 40mm again. The roads were narrow and Mrs WW was afraid of oncoming traffic but we didn't have any problems. The Evoque sat nav had a great time, I think it might need an update.

We have a couple of holidays booked and these will be my first for 6 years due to caring duties and later the family and legal issues which came after my mam died. I'm thinking what to do about slimming down my kit. I sold a lot of manual lenses months ago and I may sell the rest, maybe hang on to just literally and strictly one or two. I think I've learned enough about mainstream film era lenses so keeping just one or two for their look should be enough. I sold all my cheap Chinese lenses except the TTA 50mm f2 and I've kept that because it's tiny, worth nothing and mounts straight onto the camera and it definitely has a look. I might also try and slim down my Voigtlander lenses.

Hobby wise Mrs WW is learning piano on an electronic keyboard which came with free online tutorials. I can hear her playing in the other room as I type :) I'm doing just the same but can't seem to stop buying watches. Watch out for some pictures :LOL: After all the stressful family stuff ended I got back into keep fit and the strength, stamina and muscle definition came back very quickly. Which is nice.

Good to see Johnny posting again. I hope he becomes a regular again.

Sorry, I was replying earlier and then tea was ready!!

I bet you are both pretty damn happy to be reunited again and it sounds like you've spent some of your recent away from here time doing some very important things :) I hope all the family stuff is now sorted & you can try to get back on with living your life, especially now Mrs WW is back on the scene.

Slim the kit, keep the essentials, and get out & use it. I've bought nothing new - I'm still on the X100f (the Vi does occasionally tempt me!) and no changes to the Sony kit. I've just got scans back from the latest roll of Portra 400 too. I pulled the Escort out the garage a couple of weeks ago, took over an hour to get here started & missed the Sunday breakfast meet. I got her running in the end though, so hopefully next time she'll be okay - that's either over to Melksham Saturday if the weather forecast is okay or another breakfast meet on Sunday.

Keep the exercise up too, that's good for everyone at any age!

I've been doing a daily exercise regime since I was a teenager, lots of press ups and sit ups and stretches and some yoga type exercises but the issues of the last few years often lead to setbacks. I'm keeping it up now. My MX5 hardly got used last year and recently threw up an engine warning but it's not too serious and just something to do with the exhaust so it's going in to be fixed next Friday. I'm hoping to use it more this year.

From today, also posted elsewhere. A7 and TTA50mm f2. Mrs WW with everything you need for a walk on a chilly day. Wrapped up warm, nuts for the squirrels and a flask of Chinese flower tea.

I'm trying to keep the processing down and keep more of the original look. This lens isn't as good as the film era 50's which give a more modern look but it does give a different look so it makes a change.

Nice photos :)

Took the Escort out today, 69.4 miles apparently! Only cut out 3 times :ROFLMAO: It seems to loose full spark - can't work out why.... Tried so many things :rolleyes: The third time it lost spark for only a few seconds (I was doing about 50mph in 5th) so it jump started itself. I might bite the bullet & upgrade it to ECU ignition.

Can you do that yourself? I remember adding "electronic ignition" to my Mini, that was an easy job. I don't do many miles and tend to spilt between the Getz for shorter runs and the Evoque for longer ones. Been thinking of changing the Evoque for a newer one as it's 10 years old now but still my newest car.

It was nice to get out with the TTA 50mm. It's not to everyone's taste and MF does limit what can be done but a change to a different look is as good as a rest.

Yes, I probably can - I'd have to borrow a laptop for the mapping though :ROFLMAO: It has 'electronic ignition' but still runs a rotor & distributor - which should be okay as it's a custom, modified one built to suit the engine/cam spec. The engine already has a trigger wheel on the front pulley too so in theory it's just a crank sensor, the ECU and a power supply for it. I'm at a car breakfast meet** in the morning so I would imagine my mate/MOT tester/mechanic will be there from 'Avin The Crack (check IG or YouTube) so I'll pick his brains over the subject :)

Have you redone the timing?

The Capri was having massive issues cutting out all the time we did the timing about 20 times to no avail. Took it to a few people to have a look at nobody could sort it. Eventually manages to track down a guy who worked on them when they were new fixed it in 15 minutes and it was the timing. :ROFLMAO:

I took her to a breakfast meet on Sunday morning. No issues except the trouble starting (which I thought was too much advance anyway) The thing is, it needs a bit of advance because of the spec and, I didn't know (or remember) what the timing was even set too. Anyway, I called into work on the way back and everything ignition related I took off & cleaned, checked & cleaned contacts, checked connections, checked dizzy clamp, cleaned earth cables, and set the timing to 16° at a slightly faster idle - I think I increased it about a ¼ of a turn on the idle screw - so at least I know what it is and I have a starting point. It appeared to start & drive fine on the way home, where I gave her a well deserved clean & then drove back to the lock up.
 
I'm feeling the need for something fast and fun to supplement my Sony 24-70 and X100VI. I'm stuck between the Sony 35mm 1.4 GM and the Voightlander 40mm 1.2. Different, I know... @LeeRatters which one do you find yourself reaching for if you have a day out on your own and no time constraints?

I suppose the Voigtlander 35mm 1.2 is also in the mix but as I find myself cropping slightly quite often the 40 might make a nice change.

On my own, no time restraints, mainly static subjects [landscapes, piers, lighthouse, buildings, etc] .... Usually the 40/1.2 ;)

If I think I'll need AF [focus speed] or portraits [eye AF accuracy] or night skies then the 35GM.

As an EDIT...... I bought the X100f from Alan over a year ago now [for a good enough price to sell on or trade with no real loss] and those were my two plans. I enjoyed the Fuji instantly so I was going to trade the 'f' and the 40/1.2 in against an X100vi - but I didn't for several small niggle reasons.....

Anyway, for me right now, the X100f AND the 40/1.2 in my bag I think is more enjoyable than having the X100vi without the 40mm.......

Thanks for such a thorough response, Lee. The X100 is so small it's not a hardship to bring along for the ride for speedier requirements. The 40mm will be ordered today.

I should return the new gear enabling... I saw your post about an X100VI and having had the V previously, the IBIS of the VI ups the potential significantly depending on use case. I spent a week with mine in London and it was invaluable at night. I actually considered taking my Sony with the 24-70 2.8 at one point but 5 days and 70 miles of walking around the city later, I've never loved my little X100 more!

See, the ibis isn't really a thing for me. I can count on one hand how many times I've used it on the A7Riii - the appeal for the X100vi is the f/2 sharpness and higher mp to allow for some cropping/longer focal length framing (as such) plus maybe the improved AF for snapshot portrait accuracy I suppose. But I'm not sure that's worth £1000 or not.

While the redesigned lens in x100v is better it's still not sharp enough resolve the 40mp in x100vi. You don't really get much benefits from the higher resolution sensor :(

With the Capri it was having bother starting warm and was cutting out after 15-20 minutes was so frustrating. We literally spent a month trying to fix it. Changed everything you can think off as well.

I'm the same. It's had virtually all parts switched out at some point. When it cut out on the Melksham drive Saturday, both times I had power going into the coil (its not the coil, I have tried a few) and no sparks at all. So it's not like firing on 3 etc it's like just switching the engine off whilst driving. I have one of those orange light things that goes between the plug/lead to show a spark, both times I connected that to turn over to check for a spark, it actually started. Now, I'm guessing that's just coincidence because I can't see any relevance there..... :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, I'll update next weekend :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yeah we thought it was the coil as well tried 4 of them I think. My brother in law kept insisting its was the coil as even new ones can be dodgy at best. He also bought a new Webber carb for it as well and still not fixed.

I thought it was the timing as we had changed everything else and we changed it I don’t know how many times before giving up. Luckily we found that ford guru or it would still be cutting out after 20 minutes every time we drove it. We took it to a car show and it took the brother in law 8 hours to get back, was only a 90 minute journey. Thankfully I had went back in the other car. It’s been sweet as a nut since it was sorted to be fair.

I whinged about the number of OOF pictures I got from the X100s/f I had but something that bothered me as much was the manual focusing feel. I did like those cameras, the size and controls, it's just that I always chose something else over them.
 
We went for a walk today but it was too muddy to venture off the path so we settled down for a picnic. I was aiming for f2.5 but ended up at f22. Oh well. A chance to look at diffraction :D When pixel peeping at 100% it looks ok to me.
