Yes they're F-mount and while I wasn't keen on the 4/3 to micro 4/3 I've used before, from what I've read using F-mount lenses on Z-mount is no worse than on F-mount cameras so I'm not worse off than using the D750 at the moment and I'd have a working viewfinder display (the part I've broken on the D750 which I use more than I realised). Most of these lenses are used for easy shots so I'm sure they'll be fine and they're ones I only use occasionally so not worth buying again in a native mount but handy to have when I need them. The 100-400mm is the one I'd want in the native mount and while a bit pricey, it would still be an option if I really wanted it and I'm not really worse off either if wanting to buy other native lenses although want to avoid that as much as possible,

I've been enjoying the rapid capabilities of the A9 - the blackout free shooting does make a massive difference when trying to follow fast moving subjects!!

My first subjects, perhaps not as fast moving - but thought I'd share:

Does anybody know where I can get replacement oval eyelets/keyrings which attach to the strap mounts on the A9? Mine are missing :-(

Very annoyingly PS2023 started to apply a Sigma lens profile to these Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 pictures. It's never done this before and I don't know why it's done it today, maybe some sort of glitch in a recent update maybe? It's something I'm going to have to watch for.

I've just checked and camera raw updated 3 days ago so I'm blaming that.

One more for luck.

I've never managed to find and Sony split rings but there's plenty of 3rd party options on eBay and Amazon.

That's a lovely shot of the wee ones and I'm quite envious as I've been watching a swan brooding on the eggs for a while and then recently I was delighted to see the swan with the babies in her nest. Although could only see them from a distance and just sitting in the nest.

I've been amazed by the blackout free shooting on the A9 since I bought it and at times I wonder if I overrate it but I come to really appreciate it again when using a camera with blackouts, it's so much easier tracking fast moving subjects with the A9.

I never want a camera with blackout again.
 
Evening all.

My Nikon D850 as good as it was has been used twice in 2 years. My Olympus EM5 is used regularly as it’s so small.

If only Sony could invent a small full frame mirrorless camera. They could call it the A7c perhaps?

Whatcha mean they already have?????

My D850 is already sold and the EM5 is teetering on the edge.

If I were to pull the plug what small primes in the 24- 100 range are there for e mount and is there a list of every e mount lens somewhere? I’m happy to do the research myself!

They do a 24mm f2.8 and 40 and 50mm f2.5's all designated "G."

I have the 24mm G and apart from distortion which goes away with the lens profile I think it's a good lens. There's also the 28-60mm collapsible kit lens which I have and seems perfectly ok.

Other than that there's the older 35mm f2.8 which I have and think is excellent and there's the 28mm f2 which is bigger but relatively small and if you want cheap and cheerful and manual in Sony mount you can go for the tiny TTArtisan 50mm f2 at about £80 or the tiny Pergear 35mm f1.4 at about £120. I have both. Voigtlander also make some small Sony mount primes.

A9 and 200-600mm with 1.4x. I am very out of practice with aircraft but a Spitfire made a fleeting one pass appearance today. Shooting at 1/320th got a little blur on the propeller but I would have liked to dropped it to at least 1/250th. 2 hour wait for about 30 seconds of action

I have pretty much made my mind up about replacing my mark 1 24-70mm F2.8 with the Mk2. My main criteria nearly always revolves around focus speed and the ability to maintain focus while zooming. It is going to cost in the region if £1150 to upgrade and it got me thinking I could keep the old GM and get a Tamron 35-150 for around the same money. Has anyone got the 35-135 that could do a test for me. Set up a medium sized tracking focus point and the choose an object in normal inside light. See if the camera holds focus while you have teh back button down and zoom in and out. My 16-35mm GM and 70-200mm GM2 both do it very easily and will track across teh frame too. My first generation GM struggles to hold focus even without moving the framing (barring the zoom). If the test was on an A9, A9ii or A1 even better.

Thankyou yes the list seems dizzying! Lovely to have so much choice!!

I think the Sony 24 2.8 and 40 2.5 G lenses will suit me.

What I do love on my Olympus is the tiny 40-150 f4 pro, I know I won’t get a 70-300 on Sony quite that small but they don’t seem massive either.

Not that I’m against some larger lenses.

Lastly is the 100 STF autofocus?

I own the tamron 70-300mm f4.5-6.3 RXD and its pretty light. Optically very good.

yes it is but its not exactly small but its a speciality lens too. The sigma 90mm f2.8 is pretty small.

I think I would go for the G primes if I were after small and not big aperture.

Here’s a list of most/all e-mount lenses. I’m not sure you’ll get a Sony system as small and light without sacrificing quality and/or light gathering.

I always wanted one in A mount but lack of af put me off. I can ignore my size requirements for one special lens…..!

I don't know if you fancy a 35mm or not but if you do don't forget the old Sony 35mm f2.8. The new G lenses are very nice and they're nicely made and have aperture rings and that could be very nice on an A7c as it lacks a second near top of camera control dial but that old 35mm is IMO well worth a look, I think it's excellent.

Ah. I see.

I used to love 50mm but have gravitated much more to 35mm in recent years but more recently I've been happy to use the two cheap 50's I've bought.

Actually, I don't know if I could live with a 50mm f1.2 now as the Syoptic f1.1 will probably make f1.2 feel like f8 :D

Oh, and remember all that rubbish from Canikon fanboys a while back who insisted that f1.2 wasn't possible on Sony's small APS-C FF mount?

Just been to Cromford Classic Car Show, I definitely prefer 50mm over 35mm for these events. Always thought this, but today has confirmed it (y)

I genuinely didn't know there was a full frame camera that was (in some aspects) smaller and overall at the very least the same size as a tiny M4/3 cam! Almost seems too good to be true!
