The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

They won't be far off I imagine we have a few at work but they max out at 1080p at the minute. We are working on a 4k one though, obviously not for photography cameras.

Stay away Toby .... we've been there many moons ago ... and I'm still seeing worms in my nightmares now! :ROFLMAO:

Regards, Calvin

I’m not seriously looking, I’m happy with my Sony gear and have no intention of changing (y)

Good man. I still haven't got back into photography. I thought it was just a phase, but it's been like this for over 2 years now. Haven't taken any serious pictures since then. In fact, I've just come to the decision to sell off my 70-200 f4 lens that has only been used once in 3 years! Just got a price back from MPB, so that could be the start of it!

I didn't see any worms in my X100s pictures... I read that they can be cause by pushing the sliders a bit too much and will watch out for them when the f comes.

I have never seen them either, if my images are clear then good enough for me. Some say once you see them then you will always see them. I never seen any so one happy bunny here.

They're pretty much a thing of the past. It was more of a problem with the original X-Trans, older versions of Adobe, and heavy handed sharpening. Newer sensors do well with any RAW converter now, even Adobe.

24-70mm f2.8 II praise from DXO...

"High-speed F2.8 zooms like this have been used to showcase the best in technology since the type was introduced, but rarely do we see such a considered and thorough overhaul between versions. With this update, Sony has revamped just about everything they could. With all of the enhancements, many would have been satisfied with it equaling its predecessor in optical performance; however, the result is not only the smallest and lightest of its type, but Sony has also raised the bar optically. Given the similar price range (at launch) and the overall improvements, the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II is a solid choice over the original and highly attractive option for Sony users or indeed anyone considering the Sony system."

As stated above, worms are pretty much a thing of the past with the Xtrans unless processed poorly.

I don't know if the X100s (which is xtans) I owned for such a short time was affected but I haven't seen any when looking at 100%, but they weren't heavily processed. In recent months I've been using PS2022 rather than CS5 but Nik Filters doesn't work with the newer version so if I fancy using that I have to revert to CS5.

Move your Nik Filters folder to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC" and they should work.

As far as I remember I've already done that, I say as far as I remember as I can't remember exactly where I put them but I did follow on line advice so they could be where you recommend. I'll check tomorrow, As it is after I moved them... It shows the filters in the drop down menu and calls them up and everything looks like its working until you hit save and find that none of the changes have been added.

Just checked and indeed reinstalled them and it's exactly the same. Make changes, click OK and no changes have been made.

OK, who's expecting to get an A7iv as a gift anytime soon?

I'll be lucky if I get socks :D

Sorry Alan, you may well be right. I didn't actually try an edit as I don't usually use Nik. I'll double check mine tomorrow.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the old free version of Nik isn't compatible with the latest version of PS. I don't know about later PS versions and later versions of Nik.

I just use CS5 if I want to use Nik, all it costs me is the disk space I haven't freed up by not deleting CS5.

Who makes the sensor in the Mini 2? I thought it was Sony? ;)

I might be wrong!!

Great perspective Lee. Once upon a time you’d need to hire a helicopter to get pictures like these.

Has anyone else been finding flickr extremely slow the past couple of days?

I must be getting old, I've stopped watching all gear reviews...until I decide it is time to upgrade.

I don't think I even watched any of the Canon camera reviews, not the A7IV or the A7R5. I read the spec sheet once and saw the price and that's about it.
I only really watch reviews of gear I'm interested in, it doesn't matter to me how good the R6 II is, or the Z9 etc as they're not on my radar. Also I'm pretty sure the A7V will be better than the R6 II, and then the R6 III will be better than the A7V and so on.

Whilst it is fun I guess to see where the technology is going and from a gear nerd point of view, to me...since i am not going to switch systems, no point getting myself upset or jealous looking over the fence. I am not going to spend £20,000 to switch over. Interesting to see, but would never really care for the differences.

Also....the difference...not going to make my photos any better (or worse).

I just ordered a new iPhone 14 Pro....I am curious on how good this would be actually!

Or I am looking to upgrade my X-T1 so been watching a couple of X-T3/T2 reviews to get up to speed. Otherwise i don't. Like i don't keep up with Leica or Hasselblad reviews.

I've just got the iPhone 14 Pro and it's surprisingly good,.... for a phone. I would advise using the Adobe profile in lightroom rather than the ProRaw though as ProRaw adds far too much processing for me. Jpegs are still massively overbaked.

My wife has the iPhone 14 Pro Max and in a couple of weeks I hope to swap my S22 Ultra for her iPhone, as I have Apple stuff anyway.

I am not sure what that means....you can apply Adobe Profle in the iPhone camera?

Oh, I don't edit my phone photos in lightroom. I will probably create a profile in the camera and then leave it at that. I use it as like my diary than photos to show people.
I never used to but I really don’t like iPhone jpegs so it’s the only way I can get acceptable (for me) images
