I'd like to be able to link metering to the focus point. Out of the camera...

But it was just about rescuable.

Great moment, and nicely captured.Lou and I went to Waterstones so she could sign a copy of her book

Can you not link the spot metering to the AF point on the early models? For me you've probably rescued it a bit too much, lacking a little contrast to my eyes![]()
Obviously it’s just taste and you’re the only one that knows what it looked likeI don't think I can with my A7. I have looked and tried but I can't see a way. I think I can with some and maybe all of my Panasonic cameras, I'll check my Panasonics and my Sony again later just in case I've missed something obvious.
Contrast increased from 10 to 45 but it makes other areas too dark so I upped the general exposure a bit as shadow is maxed out. The background scenery in the distance is hazy.

I'll have a think but I think the first recovered version is closer to the reality of what I saw looking into the glare.
24-70 GM II and 70-200 GM II - 1/250th and f2.8 meant hitting ISO 12,800 a lot - but DXO PureRAW cleaned them right up
(oh and occasional 400mm 2.8)

Few from the weekend when we went to the local farm for some pumpkins. Children loved it.
For the first time I enjoyed using the 50mm f1.8 as well but my god the AF is slow. Great pictures for such a cheap lens though.

Such minor updates now.New A7rIV rumours... 8 stop IBIS and fully fandangled screen...
CONFIRMED: The new Sony A7rV has 8 stop IBIS and a fully articulating LCD screen! | sonyalpharumors
I was now able to triple confirm two more specs of the new A7rV that is going to be announced on October 26: The A7rV has a newly designed stabilization system that indeed offers up to 8stops image stabilization! The A7rV also has a fully articulating LCD screen For me the addition of those twowww.sonyalpharumors.com
How much?
Who's getting one? Almost certainly Not me![]()
Such minor updates now.
Not for me, not going bigger than the C. I'll almost certainly stick to the C line now.
The 8 stops stabilisation is nice but other than that it doesn't interest me. No drive/AF mode dial, No blackout free shooting and the stupid flippy screen thing.New A7rIV rumours... 8 stop IBIS and fully fandangled screen...

Its that good for UK price?A7C down to £1550 on Amazon today apparently.
Its that good for UK price?
The article on LensRentals suggests otherwise - in order for lenses to zoom, dials to turn, cards to be removable, etc, there have to be places where ingress of liquids and fine particles are controlled via seals - and such seals are imperfect. And everything except the dropping the camera is easy to design against. Not even that expensive to implement either, it's the extra time it takes I guess.
Well they're frankly wrong, plenty of options to make a camera and lens waterproof, dust proof within reason. Obviously not 10M but have rain from any direction is easy. The article on LensRentals suggests otherwise - in order for lenses to zoom, dials to turn, cards to be removable, etc, there have to be places where ingress of liquids and fine particles are controlled via seals - and such seals are imperfect.
Of course, you can get much more rigorous sealing by using an underwater housing - but the best of these cost significantly more than the camera itself, and add considerable bulk.
Yeah it's getting stronger at the same rate as people leaving Truss' cabinetLooks like the £ is getting a bit stronger, A1 down to £4760 on Panamoz.
Still going to be a long time before it’s in my price rangeLooks like the £ is getting a bit stronger, A1 down to £4760 on Panamoz.
Me too or I need a lottery win.Still going to be a long time before it’s in my price range![]()

That "stupid flippy screen thing" is the only reason I would even consider moving from the a7R4aThe 8 stops stabilisation is nice but other than that it doesn't interest me. No drive/AF mode dial, No blackout free shooting and the stupid flippy screen thing.
Very nice, I love the processingSpent a few days last week in Minehead as we wanted to see a few local places.
Well, the missus wanted to go to Dunster, Lynmouth & a few walks.
I wanted Porlock dead trees at high tide, to chase the steam train with the drone for a few videos & Valley of Rocks.
Lets start with Dunster

I thought I'd dislike the flippy screen but have grown to appreciate it, yes there are times it's not as fast to use as the plain fold out, but then it also does more. That "stupid flippy screen thing" is the only reason I would even consider moving from the a7R4a
So, it's a NO from me
I've been using flippy screens since I first started in Digital nearly 20 years ago with the Canon G2.I thought I'd dislike the flippy screen but have grown to appreciate it, yes there are times it's not as fast to use as the plain fold out, but then it also does more.
Having had both types of screens simultaneously they both have thier pros and cons...
But both types are inferior to the fully articulating screen from the old Sony A77/99 series. They were the best in business and that's what everyone should really want. Everything thing else is a compromise.
A do it all would be best![]()
The properly fully articulating screen like the one in A77/A99 would do it all.
I don't think it's cost related. Think they are just trying to keep the size down as much as possible.I wonder what the additional manufacturing cost would be? I don't believe it would cost £25 or anything like it but even if it did what's £25 on the cost of an A7x?
Very nice, I love the processing
