Lovely sunny day here but I might cut the lawns, if the ground isn't too wet after the pouring rain last night. I'm still liking that flawed but interesting TTA 50mm f2 :D
 
Only because it's very quiet here... The only picture I've taken today. I'd just finished cutting the lawn and when I went inside Mrs WW went out to fiddle with the cold frame. I snapped this by prefocusing the TTA 50mm f2, I shouter her name and when she looked up I snapped her. In the unfocused raw she's just a black shape, isn't modern software wonderful :D

Amazon seems to be the place to buy new if looking for quick delivery. Looking at a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 ART and on Amazon you get it at the cash back price without having to pay the full amount with WEX and wait for the cash back.

Well it's happened - I'm now officially back in camp Sony!! First shots with my newly acquired A7IV.

Lots of questions to ask which hopefully you guys will be able to help with!! So nice to get highlight protection in metering mode back, on the other hand, sad to see you can't switch off the flash in M from the camera body. That sucks a bit. Also saving settings to the dial for quick access doesn't seem to remember subsequent changes you make - you have to re-save for them to be remembered which is a bit of a pain too - unless I'm missing a setting?

Not sure what you mean about turning the flash off in M?

As for the memory settings it does save subsequent changes until you change the mode dial, if you change the mode dial and then go back to the memory slot then it will revert back to the original saved settings. For me this is a good thing as I have my “go to” settings saved forever, but then can tweak these if needed for a particular shoot. My preference would be that it defaulted back to the original settings when you turn the camera off/on rather than having to come out of the mode dial memory and then back to it again but I know others prefer it the way it is. I often forget that I’ve tweaked the settings and when I turn the camera on I’m expecting it to shoot with a specific setting (such as f1.4) only to find I’m shooting in something like f5.6 because I’d stopped down the last time I shot. Bit annoying when you have a memory as bad as mine :lol:

I used to use the mode dial to switch between shooting with and without flash. So in M I would be shooting without flash, and by moving into C1 I would then have flash on with appropriate settings for flash photography. It saved me dialling in settings every time I jumped between the 2 styles of shooting - with Nikon and Canon you can save whether the flash is on or off from in body assigning the settings to the dial - but with Sony it appears that you can only switch the flash on and off from the flash itself unless you are in auto. So when switching between modes, I will have an extra step now - turn the dial, and also switch the flash on or off. Not the end of the world but an extra step.

I guess it depends on preference really. I like to have adjustments remembered so that if I refine my flash photography settings to obtain the results I want based on ambient light - and I want to switch over to flash free photography for a certain look - it's nice to be able to come back to that custom mode and have your settings where you left them rather than having to dial them back in. I guess I could save them quickly to another custom mode before switching, but it's an extra step. I know with my Canon R6 you can have it either way - so you can have it so that the changes are either automatically updated, or not. I guess I just need to change my way of shooting :). You learn to adapt

Likewise. I want the memory setting to always allow me to get back to a fixed point. The option allowing users to choose would always be best so hopefully Sony can improve in that regard but there are plenty things I would like improved before the memory function and within the memory type functions

Lately camerasize comparison has been a bit glitchy for me, and the buttons to swap the cameras about or delete them (marked with the arrows) haven't been working. I'm on Mac and have tried chrome and safari and it doesn't work on either, has anyone else noticed this?

Yep same here. The website has gotten really annoying to use so I have stopped using it which has surprisingly really helped my GAS :D

This happened to me some time ago, it was intermittent and sometimes there was no problem and then all of a sudden it wouldn't work then all that just stopped and it's been ok ever since.

TBH I never thought it was a site problem, I put it down to a Windows update and assumed that whatever caused it went away with another update but I was just guessing.

I am actually the opposite. The pxlmag site covers more lenses of interest to me such as the Sony 40mm F2.5 which isn't on the Camera Size site yet.
