Absolutely no it should not be done.

I have no opinion and couldn't be bothered to watch the video :D but I'll probably go on a 24h rant if the next camera I have has android and I don't like it :D

I didn’t watch the video but a camera having essentially a phone OS is not something I want to see. iOS on a camera would be bad enough but Android on a camera…..

Just as bad as each other. Android would use all the system resources and slow the camera down. iOS would refuse to let you transfer pictures except through iTunes or an extra paid app.

I can imagine this being a step towards losing not just the second top of camera dial but maybe all controls and then we'll be holding cameras at half arms length in front of our face and jabbing fingers at them. What joy.

I bought something. A Panasonic LX100. It came, I set it up and took a test shot and the sensor is a blizzard of small fibres so it's going straight back. I've had a fear of fixed lens cameras for exactly this reason. Oh well...

LX100ii has better sealing against dust.
For me that was a major reason to upgrade.

I don't know if I'll take the risk. I did buy the TZ100 and that's ok to date but I do worry about these cameras and the LX100 II is more expensive than the original and for me this would be a constant worry.

At least it’s not a Leica Q, they aren’t cheap to fix, costs a fortune to remedy what is an inherent design fault, German engineering my arse lol

ouch! well I suppose its a problem with any fixed lens camera. I have owned and enjoyed using a number of them but never had it this bad.

If someone can be arsed they can probably take them to court and force them fix it for free.
Similar to how Nintendo will now fix/replaces Switch joycons for free if they have the "joycon drift" issue.

I suppose this could be an issue with any fixed lens camera. Panasonic may be sloppy... but a camera would probably need to be very well made and sealed to prevent the possibility of this happening.

This reminded me of my GM5 contamination under the sensor glass issue. Panasonic do seem to be a bit... sloppy.

Anyway. Sorry to bang on about Panasonic cameras but I just scraped this in under the cover of gas :D

the GM5 sensor glass issue is more common than it should be. As you know I have gone through 3 bodies before finding one that didn't have this issue.
I have had Sony and canon compacts whose lens had some dust in it. They didn't show up in the pictures though.

What you have pretty bad or probably on the worst side I'd say.

Used to love my old TZ10.
That LX100 looks great. Might be a nice replacement to my aging RX100.

I spoke with LCE and they said they are expecting some stock imminently i.e. within weeks.

I had the chance of a brand new boxed mint 100-400mm GM yesterday with a RRS foot as an added extra for £1500 and I decided to wait for the Tamron. The Sony lens has sold now so this had better be worth it

I’d have bitten their hand off for that price

Yup I know, was close but I mainly use the 200-600mm and I just want something a bit more compact for when I'm not doing wildlife but may come across some

Only drawback is the Tamron won't take my 1.4x ... but the "macro" capability looks to be useful. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I spoke with Tamron last week and they said "don't hold your breath, hopefully by end of year".
only one way to find out I guess.... I am still in two minds about ordering one.
I can't make up my mind on if the lens would still be too big for traveling with.

I don’t mind Jared ;)
Seems like a very down to earth decent guy, says it how it is, not afraid to criticise big manufacturers, he has a good dig at Sony near the end of that review.

He's always digging at Sony. It's nothing new.
So am I to be honest but I find myself less annoying at it than him :ROFLMAO:

He digs at them all, especially Nikon and he's right to hold them all to account considering the prices they charge for what is in some cases very mediocre equipment.

I can honestly say, hand on heart, unequivocally, without doubt...... you're more annoying :ROFLMAO:

I appreciate your encouragement.... I will setup my YouTube channel right away.
I'm thinking of setting one up, 5 second reviews, either don't buy this it's crap or buy this it's great, just hold a box with a caption underneath, no need to even speak.

would be too efficient and not annoying enough to make money.
best way to make money is you find the brand with the biggest toxic fan base (seems to be sony atm) and dig at it :p
