I will be keeping mine, but with the costs going up on everything plus not using my Sony at all I have decided to pack up and sell my Sony A7 III with the lenses. So will try and find some prices then stick it all in the Price check and sell.

I shouldn't thing they do. The LX5 has a teeny tiny sensor and the RX series as far as I know have 1". I've had a couple of LXx cameras, LX2 and 5, and personally I don't rate them too highly for image quality. They're ok for whole picture viewing I guess but looking closely always disappointed me. One thing in their favour is that you can go full manual and shoot hyperfocally.

Unless the LX5 ref was a type and you meant something else?

That's a shame.

If this leaves you without any Sony gear please feel free to post here anyway as you've been a long time contributor and are part of the furniture here and I/we will miss your shots if we have to hunt for them in the other threads.

Don't have that lens, the Sony lot are in the Price checks, plus I have some prices now off Wex second hand for some.

Thanks Toby my little RX100 III shots will go in here now, by getting rid of the Sony lot will give me a better chance to using my LX 100 II.

Cheers Lee, think it might get sold on here as I will not sell to mpb for the quote they said and then sell it for higher, but I won't make any mistakes here though.

Even though both mpb and wex quotes were automated for me I think I'd get more here, but I will not rush at all as the weight does not bother me now I sussed how to use it.

Just reaching about desktop PC lifespan..... Just read they should last 3 years......

I bought mine in May 2013. Just upgraded to Windows 10. Just looking at graphics cards but most seem to need a 6 pin power supply so might replace the power supply too.....

All because I bought a drone and started with video :rolleyes:
 
Is there any sign of them updating the 24-70 f4, it's the 3rd oldest lens in the system now. We'll due an update of you ask me. I reckon with how they're doing they could make it better and smaller at the same time.

A functional computer that works for what you need is fine regardless of age. However I would suggest that, especially if you want to edit 4k video, you completely replace everything. The present standard for fast SSD wasn't even available in 2013, and everything in there will be designed around a much slower set of requirements.

At the moment it will do 4k 'better' on W10 than it did on W7 using VideoProc which in all honesty is pretty good/easy to use.

I wanted Divinci Resolve though. That wouldn't run on W7. I switched up to W10 on a clean install. Then the GPU was stopping it from opening when it done it's initial 'checks'. I rolled back to Resolve 17, that would install & run but then not adjust colours because of some GPU related error/issue.... Hence I'm now at the graphics card/power supply stage :):ROFLMAO:

So I'm learning my way around W10, video editing, Lightroom Classic & Photoshop 2022, plus compatible PC components all at once.......
 
Software *should* look the same under W7 or W10, but IME everything is a bit quicker in 10. If you're happy with it then no worries, but it doesn't seem worth buying a graphic card when so much of the underlying machine is a couple of generations behind. I would expect a decent a PCIE 4th gen NVME SSD to transform the opening and management of very large files, even compared to SATA SSD.
 
I am gradually building up a lens selection for when I find a suitable body

I got a mint 70-200mm GM 2.8 off Ebay the other day for a pretty good price but when it arrived I was quite suprised how chunky it is. Although not a problem I would like to carry a bit less weight with me (it's not a focal length I use much tbh) and there is a Tamron 70-180mm in the classifieds.

So after all that, is there anyone that has had both (not the MK II which would be a total waste of money to me) and could persuade me the Tamron is the better lens.

I've not had the Mark I Sony but the Tamron is a really nice lens. Build quality is not as good as the Sonys, and it also extends which some don't like, but image quality is great. AF is great too except for subjects coming towards the camera from my experience.
