The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Now that is a good run in.

I've had my A7 longer than I've had any other digital changeable lens camera. I think I had my Canon 20D about 7 years. I do have a couple of digital compacts I've had longer than my A7. I had my Nikon SLR decades.

My old Canon 70D I had for a good few years, my oldest camera is very old maybe even older than me and I'm 60. When we lived in Australia I found a film camera in a big yellow skip took it home and cleaned it up and tried a film in it and it worked so kept it and it's now at my Mum's. The front part opens like a draw bridge, can't think of the name.

I found a digital compact camera on Redcar beach once. It was smashed but I took the card home and it worked and contained a couple of thousand pictures one of which was an expenses form from a local college with a name visible. I contacted the college to try and get the card to the owner but they never got back to me.

Well done on rescuing that from a skip. I do like the thought of rescuing stuff and keeping it going and it's something I've done. I have some electronic things at home that are 40 years old and more and some have been fixed multiple times but these days I don't know if I can be bothered fixing them if they conk again as sadly I seem to be losing interest in fixing stuff.

After childhood photos from Australia it is the only thing that I own, would never sell it either even though a collector offered to buy it from my father he said No it belongs to my son.

Borrowed a friends 70-350 and a A6600 but I’m going to use it on the A7iv for a few days, see how the A7iv stacks up with 14mp images.
Here are a couple of images taken with the 70-350.
Woodpecker was with the a7R3
Swans with the a7R4a
Both slightly more than 14mp but it'll give you an idea of the sharpness.
Brilliant lens!!
My one is for sale at Ffordes
Only sold it because I have the Sigma 100-400 and don't have an a6*** camera any more

As it's quiet...

It's a lovely warm and sunny day here. I'm at home today but still enjoying the weather.

Here's a reminder why we need to enjoy the nice weather when it comes...

I see a regular contributor to this thread is selling a Sony 35mm f1.4 GM in the classifieds.

I've thought about getting one of these but as I have the f1.8 I can't quite bring myself too but for those who do want one I'm sure it's a very very good lens.

As it's still quiet...

When I got my first open car I bought a leather jacket to protect me from the cold and I still have it and about 5 or 6 others and they all still fit me but I haven't worn them for decades. Anyway. Sentimental me doesn't want to throw them away so I've been on the lookout for someone who could make a camera bag bag out of a couple of them for me and the other day I found someone. I went to see him and his work is really good. He makes a lot of hats and flying helmets which Goths apparently go for and he's just got an order for another batch from a shop in Whitby. He also makes a whole host of other stuff. I took my Billingham Hadley Pro Small and he looked at it and took measurements and pictures and said it'll be a doddle and I've ordered an insert for him to build the bag around. If it's as good as I hope it'll be I'll post some pictures of it here.

If I just wanted a nice leather bag I could have just bought a Wotunnot Riker but the point is to give those leather jackets a new lease of life :D

Sounds a great idea Alan :)

Look forward to seeing it.

I need to edit and post some more images up. I've been playing with video lately from the drone and I honestly don't have a clue about it :ROFLMAO:

I've asked quite a few people over the years but no one has been interested so I was happy to find this guy and the work I've seen is just outstanding so I'm hoping for a decent and useable bag. He's just 20 minutes drive away so I had a nice drive out yesterday in my MX5 with the top down :D

Sadly it's pulling to the left quite badly so I'll have to book it in, might just be something binding.

Must be the week for it. Took the Escort up to Castle Combe on Wednesday for a mates track day. Just a catch up and watch for me though :)

You peaked my interest with that. Wasn't expecting it to be more expensive than a new one though.
I'll get one eventually.

I've watched quite a few videos about the f1.4 and if I didn't have the f1.8 then maybe I would get one. One thing about the f1.8 is the CA but I've seen it with the f1.4 in at least one of those reviews too. I'm sure the bokeh will be a bit smoother with the f1.4 but on the other hand I'd lose the f1.8's close focus ability.

One from the rumor site...

Direct to the review.

That'd be me.
Have gone back using 24GM and have got a tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 too.

It's not as far as I could see unless you are talking about grey imports in which I can't help you.

Picked up the little Tamron 28-200mm 2.8-5.6 as it seemed to fit my focal length requirements for motorsport perfectly. It arrived just before the Festival of Speed so I took it for a good test run on Friday, what a thing! Got caked in dust, got asked a lot of the AF system and honestly worked as well as lenses I've used costing 6 times as much. Very pleased...

Just got back from Goodwood FOS myself, what a great weekend. Got covered in dust myself at the off-road and rally section.

Love that last shot, I didn’t get anything more ‘arty’ like this as I just wanted to make sure I had keepers with each car just passing once, plus my wife was with me so didn’t get chance to explore areas to get more interesting positions. Not a complaint as I love sharing these things with her (y)

Glad I bought the 35mm, 50mm meant being too far away from the exhibits and so folk just stood in front of you. Got well over 1000 photos to sort through, hopefully will get some time this week.

That McMurtry car was insane, looked like my brain had gone into fast forward

WoWza.

Is this a known issue and if so do you know what lenses are affected?

I've had issues the 35mm 1.4 Art and this 85mm DG DN. Bought in April 2021.
Never had this issue myself. Though you might be using it more heavily than I do.

Yeah it's very heavily used. My 24GM is holding up better though.

Every Sigma lens seems to do that eventually

My Gosh.

Looks like they had a better lasting finish in the old days when I had Siggy lenses for my Canon DSLR's and my film era 50mm f2.8 looks better than that one :D

I never had the same issues with their DSLR lenses either. I had the 20,35,50 art lenses when I shot Nikon.
