That's one definite disadvantage of longer lenses.

Maybe long lenses could come with a bayonet fitting, so you can fix bayonet and jap people in the bottom and get them out of the way :D

I've been primarily a mountain biker for a while but with the lockdowns in 2020 preventing group riding and I wasn't getting out as much I went for a set of smart rollers and Zwift which I absolutely love, not only can I work on my road bike fitness over winter but the hard racing has allowed me to take it up a notch further as I'd been struggling to beat increasing targets. I finally broke the 200 mile barrier this week on Zwift so hoping to try and get that done on the road soon since we have the longest days of the year.

I am wanting to combine the cycling and photography more this year and need to work on finding a small backpack that's comfortable to wear for long distances but will fit the A9, 100-400mm, a Mavic 2 Pro, its controller and a spare phone. At the moment it's the A9 or drone but I think I could get something that would still be small and get both in, if there's any cyclists carrying a similar setup it would be great to hear any recommendations. I have a saddle bag when I was planning to do a LEJOG so I could stick the bike bits in there and keep the backpack for photography stuff.

I was recently at Oulton Park with the A9 and 100-400mm which I found a useful range, I've tried the 150-600mm on my Nikon setup but I found the 150mm starting point was a bit restrictive at some positions on the track and for me at least it's quite a heavy lens to carry around when walking around the track.

I use an old Camelback backpack with a cheap insert in if I want to take the camera. Many times wear that all day long. I can't imagine sitting in the saddle for 200 miles though.
What's your name on Zwift, mines "Rob J".

I'm not a cyclist but like the Tenba Solstice series of backpacks and sling bags. They're functional and have a decent amount of padding.
 
Been looking at a host of 35mm's over the past couple of days, I have to say I particularly like the character of the Sony Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4, appears to have nice pop.

If you look at the compatibility of the various ones on Amazon they say compatible with the A7R, A7RII, A7RIII and A7RIV so I can only assume they’re all the same connection.

Seen the news about a potential Tamron 150-400 f2.8-5.6, not sure it’s needed though.

Also a 45mm 1.4.

Sounds interesting, will be interesting to see if it stays at f2.8 to 200mm, and how heavy it will be.
 
After a disappointing day photographing the rugby I went down to try out the camera down the beach with Brooke. Definitely my error with settings at the Rugby(leaving stabilisation on in mode 2) as these images testify. My next mistake was not checking the battery and only getting a single burst of images before battery exhausted came up. Possibly my favourite shot of Brooke ever out of that single burst though as it makes me laugh just looking and the light was stunning. Note to self, I must get out and shoot more with the 400mm and mutley. It is actually easier than shooting with a shorter lens and the results are spectacular. First time, barring said rugby, using the A1 and 400m GM. They are a match made in heaven with lightning fast AF and stunning files

It is her idea of heaven. Beach ball and stupid humans willing to throw it over and over. Wish I had another battery as the light was great. I might try again tomorrow as there is a brilliant shot if I can put it all together

I'd love a dog and so would Mrs WW but it's just not really possible at the mo. When we're out it always makes our day if we meet a dog.

I've had two previous GF's with dogs and I do miss those dogs :D

I had to have my arm twisted to get one. They are so much responsibility and although I love her to bits she can be a nightmare. Given how much you are out and about I am sure there would be someone who would love to loan you a dog. Lots of people end up incapacitated and unable to walk them and would really appreciate a helping hand

I can't imagine life without a dog, we chose to have dogs instead of kids :)

I've both and cats and a sons girlfriend. All are noisy, make a mess and care mostly about themselves. Brooke is an exception in that she loves too much and will follow me from room to room tripping me up. I doubt I will ever get another pet and will have a motorhome as a replacement when they pass

I think there's a wrong impression there somewhere :D I'm tied to the house a lot of the time. I/we manage to grab an our or two out if we can but my last day out was 22nd April and my most usual picture taking opportunity is the walk to the shops :D
 
I am "lucky" enough to have a 1/4 acre garden. For 6 months of the year I pull weeds and cut grass and for the other 6 months I am glad not much is growing. One day I will get round to using it to its full potential but today was a weed pulling day. I hate pulling weeds but it is always better with some help and for two hours today my little Robin helper got rid of all the caterpillars I had missed. He really made a task I hate quite enjoyable and he actually appeared for the first time sitting on my Sony A1. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough with the phone.
I'm not a bird photographer but having worked with Robin before I wanted to get a few shots as he really does cheer me up when I am working in the garden.

Has anyone ever had a lens cleaned to get rid of fungus. I spotted three lenses for two hundred quid on Facebook and took the chance. It was from a young guy who had used then in difficult conditions and they had succumbed to fungus. I can hardly see any on the 24mm GM and the 50mm F2.5 and but the 100F2.8 stf has some very clearly visible on one of the internal elements. At 200 quid for all three I will use them as remotes if I can't get them cleaned and the AF and sharpness all seem fine. He clearly loved to tinker this lad and was making a carbon/kevlar fixed wing drone when I knocked his door. The lenses have also been customised and the numbering and lettering all changed to gold. They are not to my taste but it has never bothered me what kit looks like. If I can get them cleaned they will be a huge bargain. I doubt I will use the 100mm much so that will be the one I send for cleaning first. The other two if the focus doesn't grow will perform fine.

Any recommendations for who to send them to and if anyone has had a modern lens cleaned for fungus how much did it cost.

When you look at the used prices of those lens then it does indeed sound worth it. Does it come with guarantees?
