The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I've started taking part in the 52's challenge. Why not give it a try? You can even say cutting things about my pictures, if you like :D

Here's my thread...

I already do the 52 plus my jazz project then Susie, and now will be doing a 100 strangers project which should be fun I hope.
Edit Plus my monthly one here.

I like both of those Pete. The lamb makes that first one special for me and I do like that 2nd one which looks to me like it could have been taken in 1954 :D

The rumor site say the new 10-20mm APS-C lens has a power zoom...

Tried the 52 so many times, initially always enjoy it then just lose interest when themes pop up I have no interest in.

I tend to take the same pictures over and over partly because I have such limited time to go anywhere but doing the challenge at least makes me think and look for something different.

I see Fujifilm have entered the Wildlife/Sports sector with the X-H2S, complete with stacked sensor, and new 150-600mm f/5.6-f/8 Lens.

I don't take part in such challenges as I find forcing myself to take a picture makes me lose interest, I just prefer to take photos as and when I'm in the mood (y)

I hope this isn't a new trend that power zoom becomes the norm  :$

Looks a very good camera, I particularly like the sound of the AI AF too. Shame it's stuck with the X-trans processor.

The 150-600mm is interesting, 900mm effective reach at f8. I wonder how quickly it stops down though.

I think it's to appeal to the video crowd as apparently the power zoom gives you smoother zooming.
Yeah I get that, but I hope they don't forget the photographers (y)

I think those of us who don't do video will be lucky if the balance between still and video doesn't tilt even more towards video.

PS.
Actually... if Sony start to think about video more perhaps they'll stop making lenses with such epic focus breathing. I suppose it's a minor irritation to still shooters but maybe it is still an irritation.

I’d rather put up with focus breathing than power zoom ;)

Yup. Me too but I'm just looking for any positives :D

I don't think I have a lens that reeeeaaallly suffers. I watched a comparison video between the Sony 35mm f1.8 and f1.4 and whilst the f1.8 didn't seem to have any the f1.4 had epic focus breathing.

I'm currently hiring a Sony 200-600 for a week - oh my, what a lens ! Think my bank balance is about to take a hit :p
Loads of awesome shots of my son karting - this is just a few. Have an air show on Friday for the final test.

Now that Fuji have 'jumped on the bandwagon' with their AF being able to detect a variety of subject such as various animals, cars, trains etc etc is it fair to say Sony is being left behind by several manufacturers now and really need to pull their finger out to keep up? I wonder what the A9-III is going to offer, I hope for Sony's sake it at least keeps up with the latest competition.

The rumor guy seems quite excited with the 3 new APS-C lenses and says they'll be announced today...

So went out with the A7 III + Sammy AF 45mm to try and start my 100 strangers, tight wads the lot of them I say, OH no you can't take my photo, so I will just carry on as I do.

Anyone thought about getting the 24-70 GM2? Saw Panamoz have it for a smidge over 2k.

@dancook has one, seems to really like it. Out of my budget, and not a lens that is particularly on my radar.

I have the 70-200 II

I really want the 24-70 II, but I just bought a 400mm 2.8 and a new digital piano - might leave it a year..
I could’ve sworn you bought the 24-70mm too, my memory’s getting worse  :$

i enquired about it, haven't heard back from panamoz yet.
I even thought I’d seen you post pics taken with it

Nice piano playing btw, it’s amazing how quickly you’ve picked it up (y)
