Lovely images of two beauties, our Susie who is a Jack Chi is a spit of your Bailey.
Thanks George, I appreciate it. The irony is that I was at a Bird of Prey centre and this wild Kite stole the showTwo "Cracking" wildlife captures Toby.

I’ve not watched the video (no sound) but reading the comments it seems the cameras perform better after a full reinstall of the software rather than a firmware update. Odd, I’d assume the original software is exactly the same as what was installed initiallyInteresting video:

Long time since I’ve done one but I found that in the past too.I've been playing with pictures, reediting, doing panos etc... Does anyone else find that doing the same pano more than once can give different results? Maybe it's just my old CS5 but I've just redone a pano which had a fault in it and the second doing fixed that fault but created another. I could fix it good enough for me but I just found the different results with the same files interesting.

I still find this very odd, I don’t understand how they can get it to work properly in other cameras but not this.DPR say the latest A7iv firmware update hasn't fixed the reported eye focus issues....

Sony a7 IV: firmware v1.01 doesn't change our conclusions
Firmware v1.01 for the Sony a7 IV promised an improvement in Eye AF performance but we're still finding that wide-aperture shots are fractionally front-focused.www.dpreview.com
If this is true Sony seem to have had a hiccup somewhere.

Well as far as I know the A7iii works fine, and I doubt that it's the higher MP count as I've not seen similar issues reported with the A7RIV. I doubt the focus points are bigger as it has more focus points than the A7iii (753 vs 693) and therefore you'd expect them to be smaller. In the comments people speculate that cameras like the A9 which they say are good at eye detect may have smaller focus points, larger focus points may be affected by overlapping eyelashes.
It's a theory and maybe even a possibility but if they've made the A7iv focus points larger... why? and if that's what they've done is it baked in on the sensor and can't be fixed through firmware? Who knows.

which would you say has the fastest af, does the extra mp on the a7iv make much difference for more aggressive croppingMy missus has had an A7IV since launch and not had any of the focus issues that has been reported and that was before the firmware update.
I have had one for a while although to be fair it's mostly my wife that uses it and not had any focus issues either.
A.F is as good as our A9 and A9ii's

Probably wishful thinking but I was hoping the A9 stacked sensor technology would've had made it's way down the range by now. It's kinda strange that a 5 year old design has even now only been matched/beaten by the A1 for autofocus tracking, speed and fast readout. I was sure the advantages of the stacked sensor would've trickled down the range.
Have you used them for anything other than weddings? Any wildlife etc?My missus has had an A7IV since launch and not had any of the focus issues that has been reported and that was before the firmware update.

Yeah the extra MP does help in some situations.
The main downside of the A7IV is the flip screen lcd.
The A9 also has the advantage of being able to use the silent shutter in nearly every situation without banding.
Other than those 2 things I really like the A7IV.
Magic. The Spire absolutely makes this.

The AF issues in the video are for the A7IV not the A7RIVI had literally just decided to swap my A9 for an A7Riv and now I read this.
My first thought as well. Come on Sony!
Oh, that's good to hear. More.....I need more reassurance...
What's wrong with the flip screen?
I'm now back to being undecided. Damn.

I don't like flippy screens as much either, my biggest issue is that you can't tilt them without first having to flip them out. I do wish Sony's flip screen flipped to 90 degrees in both directions though, I find that with overhead shooting the screen doesn't sometimes tilt as far as I'd like.I just dislike it as it doesn't shoot my shooting style, the screens on the older bodies make it easy to get down low. I also find the older screens better for reaching high.
For people who shoot video (I don't) I guess the new screen is useful.
Edit - Aggh just seen you thought thought the issue was with the A7RIV, it has the older screen, so no issue with that I have an A7RIV as well.
No, the a.f on the A7RIV is not as good as the A9, A9II or A1. Not even close.
I've always like the flippy screen on all the cameras I've owned - mainly CanonI would say they are on a par.
