Just had my A1 through the post and been playing around, but I can't seem to get it going at 30fps, only 23. I've tried various settings such as turning compensation off, DRO, face recognition and nothing so far is making a difference.

Main settings are:

Fine JPEG
Shutter between 1/320-1/2500
AF-C and MF
AF-C set to release
Various AF modes, even turning tracking on makes no difference
Hi*
Shutter, aperture and manual modes
Viewfinder and monitor
Firmware 1.2

Lenses used: 70-200mm GM2, 85mm 1.8, 400mm 2.8

Memory cards Sony tough 80gb CFe and Sony tough 64gb SDXC

I've been timing it on my phone, taking 10s bursts, never more than 237 shots.

I'm clearly missing a setting but no idea what :headbang::ROFLMAO:

I'm not certain but isn't the fasted speed limited to specific lenses?

A number of Sony lenses should be able to do 30fps, particularly the GM I believe. I'd be surprised if the 70-200mm GM2 can't seeing as it's brand new.

Looking at this I can't see anything you've missed

Rather than timing with your iphone I'd suggest checking the time stamp of the photos and see if 30 shots fall within a second. That's how I checked mine for 20fps and it's more reliable than timing with a stopwatch imo.

Thanks Snerkler, went back and checked the time stamps and yep, 30fps. Obviously error on my part (trying to measure write speeds at the same time was not a good idea).
Good job I don't do anything important :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

One from our walk to the shops today and a rare outing for the Sony 35mm f1.8.

Yup, like that one a lot .... The GM2 70-200mm looks superb, eyes are pin sharp.
Thanks, yeah very happy with the lens (y)

Enjoying spending time watching this lot (and house martins) getting nest/home material. They're flipping fast though!
Great capture. It amazed me the other day that shooting at 1/1600 and 1/2000 still doesn’t completely freeze the wing tip movement.

On the rumor site... A rather nice looking but maybe a bit bulky APS-C Tokina 33mm f1.2.

Quite pleased with the effect, but I'll definitely be going for 1/3200 next time I play out. See what the ISO's like. It was too dark this morning (cloudy north east) at 0530 when I was out.

Just to say I decided on the Sigma 45 2.8 in the end. The Sony 50 2.5 was v good but the images could be a bit severe because of the high contrast sharpness, and the backgrounds looks a bit busier too. The Sigma is smoother while still retaining lots of detail.
An added bonus is the build quality. Manual focusing is silky smooth.

Good stuff but remember to post pictures! :D

@woof woof I also picked up a lens yesterday which you may appreciate as a fan of rokkor manual lenses (although maybe not this focal length)
It's a TC 100mm f4
Tiny little thing and in really quite nice condition.

Nice.

I have Rokkor 85mm f2 and 135mm f2.8 lenses so although I've looked at 100mm lenses getting one would really just be collecting. I'll look forward to seeing your pictures taken with it :D

Well it turns out the condition looked good but....
I was going to take the lens out for a wander today and try it out. Adjusted the aperture ring back and forth and the blades mangled!

Downer dude :(

I used my Rokkor 135mm f2.8 the other day to take a couple of pictures of Mrs WW's strawberry plants so she could send them to her friends and I was surprised how nice and sharp it is at f2.8 at MFD as I hadn't used it for a long time.

Will do Alan. I'm only a few weeks into my new Sony A7R4 and there is still a lot to learn. Very happy with the way my kit is shaping up: Sony 24/2.8G, Sony 35/1.4GM and now the Sigma 45/2.8. That's the main primes for now. I may add a zoom or the 50/1.2GM as a prestige lens, when my bank balance recovers. Would like to add a portrait lens too, but it seems people are expecting the 85GM to be updated "soon".

By the way, is this thread the main forum for Sony full frame shooters or are there other threads I should also explore?

I'm not sure what's about but there is a thread listing the various owners threads here...

This thread is of course easily the best and all the best people post here and we're all sooooo tolerant and accepting and friendly. Honest :D

You may also like the pics you took today thread...

and others in the photos General and For Pleasure sections and there are lots more image threads to look at and post in.

Have Fun! :D

I've got a Rokkor 135 f2.8 as well.
It's a great lens :)
