The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Perhaps you could point us to that post?
I think it was due to doing professional work only and not doing anything in the way of hobby photography IIRC (y)

If you decide to sell it let me know, I may be interested.

At the moment I might get rid of my FE24mm GM the FE90mm Macro and the Voigtlander 50mm f2 APO-Lanther. If I do then I might have to ask @Cobra to let me back in classified as I only use the Samyangs the most now.

It's probably been posted in here before but to save me searching do people recommend the FE 20mm 1.8 or 24mm 1.4 for general wide use?
Had both and currently have the 24GM.
For general use I'd go with 24GM, it's pretty nice for things like portraits too which is why I bought it again!

I think 20mm is maybe more of an occasional and specialist use lens than a general wide. I have the 20mm and I do think it's a very good lens. I also have the 24mm f2.8 G which I also think is very good. It does have pretty epic distortion but the lens profile seems to clean it up with no downside that I can see.

As above, pick the focal length you prefer, or buy them both :D They are IMO maybe sufficiently different to not really compete that much.

I never throw away a box - it drives the missus mad!
Ditto, things fetch more money if they're boxed hence why I keep them for when I sell my stuff on.

I keep the boxes for some smaller items like cameras and lenses but stuff like microwave and TV boxes are just too big and go for recycling. Luckily I kept the box for my new pc as it's off for repair for the second time tomorrow. Hopefully they can read the fault description and fix it this time.

It drove me mad too, so if I sell the three lenses they will go for a great price.

I've been thinking of slimming my kit down and have three Voigtlanders. 35mm f1.4, 40mm f1.2 and 50mm f2, but they all do different things so so far I haven't been able to decide to sell any of them,

You change your mind faster than the weather ...
:p

OK so I have to make a u-turn on my previous comments on the 24-70mm f4 vs the 24-105mm f4, having re-assessed my comparison photos there is marked difference at the edges between the two. It's less noticeable at the centre but still there.

Full frame, shot at f11 on both set on a tripod.

I like to think of the 24-70 as a really really expensive kit lens. If it had been my first lens with Sony then I know I would have been extremely disappointed, and would have wondered why I chopped in my Nikon gear - the old 28-105 AF-D I used has better performance than that.
