:) I went and picked my mate up and got him to drive it home that way it was parked up in the drive way before the missus even realised it was mine.

Have a look at a Honda CRV, surprisingly similar to the smaller Landrovers like the freelancers etc. and a lot more reliable.

In some of the church gigs I go to sitting further back sounds even better, so having this lens would be spot on.
 
I had a wonder around a park this morning with my A7 and a Canon 50mm f1.8 SSC, just trying to decide what to keep and what to sell on, or try to sell on.

This is a nice lens, it's not terribly sharp, it doesn't really have biting contrast, f1.8 is as you'd expect from a lens of this age, there's noticeable vignetting at wider apertures and the close focus distance of both this and the later FD version is a bit longer than other 50's of about the same time but it's sharp enough, it's very nicely made and it is lovely to use.

Oh dear. They look a lot softer here than on my screen. I sometimes wonder if worthwhile posting to show lens qualities.

Good work! I could do with getting another car, been borrowing one since my lease went back and waiting on delivery of new one. Will hopefully be some point this year :rolleyes:

Most of these would look better in monochrome.

If we believe those reviews it looks like it's a very nice lens and (arguably) priced in line with the competition.
 
I've got to stop reading Dustin Abbott's reviews on the Samyang lenses as I might also get the little AF18mm with the AF135mm. Then I might get rid of more of my FE lenses, but not the 90mm or 100mm.

I had the 18mm and really liked it.
 
I have one at the moment. I very much like it too, but don't think I've used it in the last 12 months. Let me know if you're interested & I might bung it in the classifieds.
 
Some new shots from me. Shot in Haymarket and Brick Lane, London. I think I'm getting to grips better now with how to expose highlights properly, particularly for sun and shadow type shots. I always hated it when I blew those out. I also feel I'm beginning to develop more of a consistent look to my images which is what I've wanted for some time. I'd experimented with different processing styles in the beginning few months, and often over processing and over saturating. Every shot looked like a different photographer. Basically limiting my processing now other than some enhancements for colour and contrast. And thinking harder now about framing and composition instead of heavy cropping.

As I've just said at length in another thread, I think people can sometimes be scared of cropping but personally I wouldn't worry too much as how often do we really need a full sized full res picture? But maybe I'm wrong and whole full res pictures are needed more than I think :D

More often than not I am cropping near enough 100% when shooting birds.

When I'm out with a 35mm or something like that I often can't get the framing I want with a wild flower or get close enough to a squirrel so for that sort of thing I'll do a heavy crop as the picture isn't going to be printed to A3 and viewed in a gallery, it's going to be looked at on a screen and will probably be ok :D Plus there are the odd times when I want a different perspective.
 
With the 24MP available from even the (now venerable) A65 I'm quite happy to crop so that I achieve what I want...

For me I always crop to my liking, in my jazz shots they are always cropped.
 
I see Samyang are releasing a MK2 35mm F1.4.
Still have my heart set on the Sony GM though I think.
Size and quality are the priority.

I've been thinking a lot about my kit recently. I've been thinking of selling (or trying to sell) my old manual lenses, ditching MFT or even ditching Sony but I do like my A7 so it'll almost certainly stay but I can't see myself buying much if anything now unless it's to replace something that dies.

At the mo I like using the GM5 with 20mm f1.7, GX80 with 45-150mm and A7 with 35mm and a maybe close up filter.

While I'm here, just memories of wandering around the park with my A7 and 50mm SSC...

Can work out well if you have a car on finance though. One of our grooms a few weeks back had his car dealer get in touch to buy back his car and put him in a new one. They offered him more for his used car than a new one would be so he was able to come out of the the old finance deal for a brand new car and save himself £60 a month as well.

Also is good for those who have a used car to sell that they aren’t going to replace. I sold my Audi TT and made just under 2k on it.

Last year I traded my Octavia VRS for a newer higher spec version. The old one I had for about 2 years I stuck 40k on it, the wife kerbed the wheels, and it had a few other car park scrapes and a dent that wasn’t there when I bought it. Traded it and got 3k more than I paid for it although I probably paid about £1500-2000 more than the newer car would have cost me a year before. II debated swooping out the VRS for an Audi RS3 a few weeks ago. They offered me 25k for the VRS, I paid 21k for it.

There was a time when all the women here had a bag on wheels of some sort. In those days not everyone had a car and there weren't supermarkets all over the place and they needed a way of getting the shopping from the high street to home.
