I'd add to that that the focus might not be quite as good. We'll soon know.

I haven't used my 20mm f1.8 for a while, I really only bought it to use now and again and also in the hope that I'll get to go on a cruise to see the nothern lights one day. Snice I got the 24mm f2.8 that's filled the need for a now and again wide as it's so much smaller and lighter than the 20mm.

I've got just 4 photos on my Flickr with the 20G that aren't night skies :ROFLMAO:
 
Vignetting and distortion seem to be the issues with the Sigma.

This is a screen shot from that last vid review...

I don't know how much this will matter after a lens profile has been applied. I'm a fan of the Sony 24mm f2.8 which has pretty epic distortion but I can't see any great price to pay when a profile is applied so maybe this Sigma will be just fine in real world use.

Same for me re. low light and hence getting the 35/1.4. Fast children indoors makes for challenging photos as I like to operate at fast shutter speeds - I can always fix or "art up" underexposed or noisy images but if blurred then I'm screwed lol But under normal circumstances I'll use f2.8 with the 35mm and f4 if over 85mm. It still gives me nice dof but also allows a little room for focusing error! :D

I'm saving for the 35mm GM, that will do me for low light stuff.

My favourite lens, but lack of OSS did make some casual video work a bit jerky.

Maybe that explains the eye af hitting eyebrows rather than eyes.
 
Remember that Sony camera that went down the slope at the Olympics? I just came across this on another site...

"ADDENDUM: Jay adds, "The camera and lens survived. Minor damage to the LCD screen on the back of the camera body and the lens hood was toast, but apparently it was back in service the next day. Sony repair staff on site at the Olympics revealed to a reporter that the camera was a Sony Alpha 1 and a 24–70mm GM lens, if you’re a gear head. I’ve had a few cameras tumble in my time."

Jeez. I assumed both the camera and lens would be scrap.
 
When you have too many camera bags.

Just spent about an hour trawling through the internet trying to find a shoulder bag that will take 3 bodies with lenses attached.

Eventually managed to narrow it down to a couple and one looked vaguely familiar.

So had a quick hunt through the bag storage room (the attic) and turns out I already own one of these. :D

Some pictures from todays trip to the park with my creaking old A7 and Voigtlander 35mm f1.4.

All that's left of the big house. When it burnt down all the townspeople came to watch the spectacle, which must have been nice for the owner.

Who knows, I may have moved on by then. :oops: :$

I have been lent a Canon R5, a 50 f/1.2 and their new 85 f/1.2, will see how that goes.

People say Sony menu's are complicated, Jesus!
 
I remember when Canon menus were a list. Back then I could call up the list and spin the dial and very often hit "format" which was the only thing I went into the menu for. These days it's pretty much the same.

Good luck setting the Canon up but I bet it's the same story, set the camera up and then go into the menu almost never.
 
Does anyone know where I can get a none Sony lens hood for my 200-600mm ( Amazon want around £70 ) LCE have a used one for £50 with a case for the lens- which I already have and won't sell the hood as a separate item)

Just wanted to keep my original minty fresh for when I sell it :(

Its very rare to find used lens hoods on their own so the LCE one might be a good deal.
If you want I'll buy the case off you for a tenner ;)

Could I ask a question?
How many people who shoot landscapes are using polarising filters nowadays?

After reading a few rave reviews I’ve ordered a Samyang 24-70mm f2.8.
It’s quite a large filter size (82mm) and I’m wondering if I should consider ordering a polariser.

depends on if you shoot landscapes that could benefit from having a polariser.
Its one of the few things you can't achieve in PP.

I have a CPL, I use it sparingly but when I do its very useful to have.

I use one if shooting water or anything with a sheen. It can make a massive difference to some scenarios.

I use one very seldomly, I tend to use 16mm a lot and a polariser can have bad effects on the sky when using UWA.
