The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I have one of those and I think it's a good lens, there's some question marks over it but overall it's good, IMO and the close focus ability comes in handy. There are a couple of used ones for sale on this site.

I have one of those two, with the same views :D and there's a couple in the classifieds.

I just bought both on the classifieds here. I'd have been better buying these as they are a great price. I have a boxing event so wanted the option of 20fps and my wee Samyang doesn't do that so will be sold on.

Oh dear, but sadly that can happen.

I paid £629 for the 35mm f1.8, I can't remember where I got the 85mm to check.

I hope to be posting soon as it has been far to long not using a camera.

You could just take a picture of a lens cap... or your socks. That's all been done before and no one will take the P. Much :D

Go on... You have a spare minute...

For those looking for something to read, DPR awards. Which Sony stuff will win an award? Find out here...

Bought the 85mm this morning off Amazon, already have the 35mm (got mine off Ebay a few weeks ago for a silly low price.

Mind you, not sure why as 99% of my stuff on the a9 is at 600mm.
I'm similar. These won't see much use but they are perfect for the once a quarter boxing matches I shoot and I like the idea of using the 35mm in particular for dog portraits. If I ever get back into street photography the 35mm will be good but the Samyang 35mm F1.8 I have is a good wee lens too.

I think he's interesting but I get what you guys mean. Maybe turn the volume down and cc on? If there are any.

Someones blown the works secret Santa Xmas present budget...

You don't even get a lens with it. Could buy a cheap second hand 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens I suppose :D

"The Leitz Photographic auction says that this version was acquired mainly by professional photographers and that many of the most famous Magnum photographers of the time used Leica MP cameras." I wondered if Henri Cartier Bresson had owned this particular camera, as that would have completely justified its price.

I just checked a well known used seller and they have MP's for £4k+change which is eye watering enough for me. The $1.3M one being a rare limited edition one goes some way to explain the price even if it'll never be fully understandable to me :D I guess it's been bought by a collector who'll fondle it and lovingly preserve it.

Thanks WEX, that'll do nicely :D

Is it Black Friday? I forget...

Anyway. Who's bought anything and if so what?

I bought the 24mm f2.8 G but that was a few weeks ago. I thought about buying some processing software, Nik Filters or Luminar or something but I got bogged down reading reviews and didn't get around to buying anything but I'm sure someone here has bought something exciting?

Lot cheaper than I paid a few months ago from E-infinity. Saying that I have had the use out of it so no worries.

Did you get the £100 codes from Sony when you registered your camera? .... even cheaper then

My A7iii is over 3 years old now so will just be getting the £100 winter cashback. Still £1186 is a price I am very happy with. MPB are picking up my Sigma 150-600 on the same day this is being delivered (courier gods allowing) so all the planets are aligned haha. I am really looking forward to native focus performance.

I have bought a few things nothing really camera related though unless you count a 28TB raid hard drive for storage.

Just bought a cheap telly there and a few bits and bobs for the kids for Christmas.

Will be interested to see your bird pics ... the previous shots with the Sigma were excellent anyway.

Thanks so much, I am not expecting huge gains in image quality, it's more the performance I am looking forward to. I felt I had took the adapted Sigma as far as I could and loved every minute with the lens.

Just had my Sony 85mm f/1.8 delivered ... I am always amazed how sharp these new primes are even shot wide open.

That's me done with lenses for the a9 I think, (although I keep looking at the 100-400mm in the sales section)

I hope you're very happy with it :D

I haven't used mine for a long time but yesterday I had a close look at a picture which I see every day as it's framed in our bedroom. I do still remember the old Sigma 85mm f1.4 I had for Canon DSLR's but I'm sure the Sony f1.8 is the better lens.

I have the old 85mm DG EX HSM 1.4 in Pentax mount and the Sony is just better in every way apart from the 1.4. I tried the Sigma on my a9 with the adapter (MF only) but tbh adapting is a real pain at times.

That sounds like the one I had in Canon mount. I had the Sigma 50mm f1.4, 20mm f1.8 and 12-24mm too back then. These days I have Sony primes but no 12-24mm.

Will look forward to seeing your 85mm pictures. 85mm is getting a bit long for me, I normally prefer 35/50mm.

Just ordered a brand new a7iii for £1099!

WEX have just knocked £200 off, so now £1499, Sony have £200 cashback so £1299 and I had £200 of vouchers so £1099.
Very pleased with that, although I expect the a7iii prices will drop when the a7iv comes out, I wanted it now, so paid the price.

Will sit nicely alongside my A9.

Have fun, the 85mm f/1.8 a superb lens. First lens I bought for full frame and used it for literally everything.

A7iii won't drop much more , the way sony run older models alongside newer model means it will find success for a long while yet.
