You use an app on your phone to do it. Also various 3rd party devices that will do it.I was just coming around to the idea of it too![]()
No good though what with the night sky stuff.

I know. I don't have the app installed right now but I'll see if I can find what it was, though I'm sure I just searched for Sony intervalometer. You just had to set the camera to control via phone. Not for £8 there probably isn't..... I guess an App might be able to set exposure times, intervals, total shots etc? I'm not talking single shots as a remote, it needs to be set as a program.

You could then set what ever shutter settings you wanted.
Absolute worse case you use an app to figure out the times and use a basic Bluetooth remote to trigger the shutter.
Not Sony related...
My Acer PC came back from repair, updated the BIOS and reinstall OS, and the fault is just the same... as I expected it to be when I read the sheetwith one USB port acting differently to other identical USB ports (as confirmed by Acer.) I think AO are a pain to deal with as their system just points me at Acer so I'm on hold on the phone trying arrange a return and refund which their online system isn't set up for for this PC at least.
I think I'll buy from Amazon or Currys as returns seem easier.
As if I didn't have anything else to do today, and I still can't process the pictures I have on my cameras.
Try these. You'll arguably get a better laptop for your money.Already have with the 1st pc I bought which died and wouldn't power up again and it was a breeze. AO were much more of a mess on and insisted on ringing Acer before they agreed to give me my money back. Anyway, I'm back to searching for a reasonable speck 17" one again.
Does the interval shooting option only work up to the usual 30 seconds. Why to manufacturers restrict it to 30 seconds, makes now sense.Yes. But I don't want to stand there with my phone on continously pressing a button every 60/90 seconds to fire the shutter.
The cheap intervelometer I just plug in, set the camera to bulb and start the program and do whatever until it's finished.
If you are after an upgrade and if you don't much care for AF or bigger battery or dual card slots A7RII is amazing value. That sensor still gives the latest greatest bodies a run for their money. You can at most get about 1/3rd stop advantage by buying the latest and greatest and you'll end up spending like 2-3x more for that.Yes. go for the A7RIV thenNot really after an upgrade as such but I think the Rii is a bit too old.

Maybe get a Dell from the outlet? It will likely have been checked over before shipping.
go for the A7RIV then![]()
why not a higher res body?If anything it would have been the A7c or A7iii![]()

why not a higher res body?
stuff you seem to shoot would probably benefit from more those sensors than slightly better AF performance you get with A7C/A7III.
I'm sure I looked but I'll double look.
I think it is only newer bodies. I took a look and it seems to be restricted to the 30 secs. You have got me looking for a cheap remote timer. I have the Sony Bluetooth one which is very good but lacks the timing element. I'll probably just get an S2 cable for my old wireless remote as that should do the trickIn camera I think it does doesn't it?? My intervelometer will do whatever I program.
I have the A7 so have nothing built in anyway.
A7C will certainly provide a smaller body.Because I don't think I really need more MP's & not sure I want to deal with massive file sizes tbh
I'd rather have a smaller body & better high ISO
Another option to save some money as well which is what I always do is, if you want say 32GB RAM spec it with 1x 16GB and then add another yourself. That looks good Rob and I didn't have to wade through pages of stuff that don't meet the spec either as with Currys, Amazon etc
I might just have a chat with them tomorrow as I'm not sure about a thing or two. Actually with the prices being IMO quite reasonable I can overspec a bit so no need to call them![]()

you won't really get better high ISO they are all about the same give or take <1/3rd stop either way which is pretty negligible.
massive file size can be a pain sometimes but its not an unsolvable issue and that's of course up to you (depends on your workflow/setup etc)
just think its an option worth considering![]()
I mean there isn't great deal of difference in ISO performance between A7RII/III/IV and A7C/A7III.Hence my original interest in the A7c
What do you mean by ALL about the same?
I mean there isn't great deal of difference in ISO performance between A7RII/III/IV and A7C/A7III.
Just saying you shouldn't pick lower Res body for better ISO performance because there isn't much of a real world difference.

basically A7RII hasn't been significantly improved upon in terms of dynamic range and ISO performance.Cool. I wasn't sure which actual bodies you were referring to by ALL that's all![]()
I can't stand this guy but needs must.
he is constantly wrong and I can't believe people still watch his stuff.
He basically just taken the rumours that are posted on https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/ and made it into a video.

Or pay extra and have it within a few days. The option is there. I've had about 6 laptops from them.I recently bought a desktop from them for my daughter - ability to specify / customise practically everything was great, prices reasonable, etc.
I works perfectly, and looks properly put together.
BUT - their lead times are VERY misleading! You initially get a 'time to build' - which is actually the expected time before they START to collect parts to build it...
And the 8-10 days escalated to over (working) 20 days, then it was another week to actually complete the build, plus delivery.
I had to chase them for updates, promises that it would be expedited (it was intended as a birthday present) didn't materialise.
This was for a very simple build, with on-board graphics (as there was a known issue with graphics card availability).
So you may get a decent machine, with the spec you want, but be prepared to wait a bit before it arrives!
The problem was that as far as was apparent at time or ordering (about a month before my daughters birthday), there was no real advantage in getting it in 1-2 weeks rather than 2-3 weeks - I was ordering with what I thought was plenty of time.Or pay extra and have it within a few days. Jarod is a bit cringey, I never really got on with his style so I have seen like one whole video of his.I've unsubscribed from their channel a year ago. I think the straw that broke the camel's back for me was Chelsea went from Nikon D850 raving it to be the best thing ever to Sony R4 saying it suits her shooting better than then switching to the Canon R5 in the space of about 12 months. The constant comparison of bodies was not something i am interested in.
I know it's their job to compare but it's not something I would do, not any professional photographer would do. You don't switch between systems 3 times in the space of like a year. That is not a way to run a business. That's not a photographer, that's a gear reviewer and YouTuber. So this pre-text of "this suits me best" is just a lie to get views. And since I am not doing that switch or any intention to, I find their thumbnail appear in my daily feed a waste of space.
It's funny because I kept Jarod Fro Knows Photo in my feed still ! That's how low a bar it is and the Northrops don't clear it.
