I took the 28-75, didn’t intend on using for stills, just video. But thought I’d take it and give it a run out

Were away in a few weeks. I'm only undecided on the FE85 for its portrait AF vs the Contax 80-200 for its landscape reach......

Try and relax and remember that whatever he's got it's not catching.

The key is to see it as just entertainment or just maybe take what you can from it, nothing more. He and his Mrs may appear distasteful at times but there can be nuggets of useful information in there, just like with Ken Rockwell.

On holidays. I'm getting a very short one as we're off to London in a while as Mrs has to go to the embassy so we'll get an overnight stay and the chance to see some sights. I bought the Sony 28mm f2 to take on this trip, that or a 35mm or I may pull a Kaleb Cooper and stay in the hotel room.

They change their camera every other day which really amuses me.

London is more home for me than holiday :D
But I really like London, my only problem with it is the terribad light pollution.

well I guess depends on how patient and static your subjects are.
My wife is very patient, my 3 year old not so much. So AF really helps in my case.
Before we had our son I had a nice collection of manual lenses inc. some nice legacy f1.2 primes. now all gone :(

We won't be out at night. I've asked Mrs WW to do some research and pick places to visit. If left to me I'd just head out for the nearest pizza place. I think the last time I went to London was over 25 years ago but it was computer related so I didn't see anything.

There's always pre focusing / zone and just firing away which should work pretty well unless you want to shoot at wide apertures or expect to pixel peep and see perfection. I've managed to capture Mrs WW running with a manual 85mm.

Yes. Although I do still have the MF's :ROFLMAO:

Just looked back through LR, nothing with the Contax so I couldn't have taken it.

Visited a lot of Cornwall last few days. Very nice part of the country. will miss it.

a lot will have changed in 25 years. probably too late to book now but the museums are really nice to visit.
 
Misplaced my Haida ND filter. On Tuesday, I thought I'd lost my wireless earbuds, they weren't in my camera bag where I'd put them. I was in Carnaby Street and an hour or so earlier had tried a camera bag in Jessops in Oxford Street. I called them and it turned out I'd left them in the new bag when I transferred the contents of my old bag to test the weight and comfort. :facepalm: So fortunately I was able to retrieve them. Now I'm thinking/hoping the filter might be in that bag too. Hopefully they haven't sold it. I'll call them tomorrow. Have a feeling I might not be as lucky second time and will have to buy another.

Oh silly me, I didn't leave my filter in the shop after all. I just found out it in one of the many pockets of my new thinktank bag that I'll be returning. Phew! :D

Yep, pretty much everything now is pre-booking online. I was at the Tate Modern recently and wanted to go in for some photos but have to book a ticket first.

There are some really good shots in there that shows the it's more than just the camera and there are those that make me wonder why it's won anything....
 
Shame. I was looking at the variable ND/CP but at 70mm the crossfade comes in at 5 stops and you cant use it on a wide angle lens

I have bought the variable ND/CPL for up to 5 stops and I have bought the 67-82mm ring for a 10 stopper.
And that's all I ever need to carry.

I can use it on my 17-28mm no problems. I am sure I remember reading they tested it working with 16-35GM too.

Posted my initial impressions a while back on dyxum. Since no one cared I didn't bother posting further testing. If you need any more information or test shots let me know.

How much wide were you thinking?
The only lens I can think of is the laowa 15mm f2 that's wider with a filter ring....
What lens to you have in mind?

From what I have gained, smaller f stop (higher number) the worse the effect is. Basically unusable with a 10-20mm

I can post sample pictures tomorrow if you like but on the 17-28mm I can definitely get up to f8 at 17mm and 4 stops. I recently shot it at those settings.
I haven't stretched it further but I can do that too if you like.

But regardless of you don't like the VND you can always add your own filters too the revoring.

Don't know how much I paid but wasn't £200. I got it from the Kickstarter though.

The plain 67-82mm ring where you can put your own filters are fairly cheap though.

I had the manfrotto xume system.
While I liked the idea and some filter manufacturers are making filter that'll attach more readily i.e. without needing a magnetic ring for the filter you still need step rings for the lenses.
You have to mess about screwing them on and off especially if you use the hood like I do.
Revoring gets rid of the need to carry all those. If you change lenses (which I do a fair amount) it doesn't matter much as long as the lens has filter thread of 67mm which is going to be the case anyway for FF systems.

My filter kit is much smaller and cleaner thanks to these. I basically don't worry about it but now.

DPR vid... Oh an I see that Steve Huff is going to do some more photography gear reviews. I know he's not to everyone's taste but I often like his vids because he expresses an opinion and he's infectiously enthusiastic.
