Of the first photo a poster says...
"As the first photo was taken about 15 miles from where I was born, let me try to unpack it.
-The industrial area in the back is the Azomures nitrogen fertilizer chemical factory. It is about 60 years old. It is polluting, by releasing ammonia in the air. It also gives jobs to about 4000 people, and of course fertilizers to the whole country.
-The land is not industrial wasteland - it is agricultural land prepared for the spring.
-Shepherds in Transylvania take the sheep up to the surrounding Carpathian mountains in the summer, and bring them down to the valleys for the winter (this is the valley of the Mures river here). That is where the lamb are born. It is a joyous occasion.
-Shepherds are prosperous. They often take care of 500 sheep or more. That is a significant source of revenue in milk, cheese, wool, leather and meat. It is a hard work. They are gruff, because that is what living in a cottage for the summer does to you."
