I did this walk a few years back. There is a very good path from Burbage Edge to Padley Gorge. Made the mistake of detouring and trying to find a path up Higger Tor from Carl Wark. Ended up going for a bit of rocking climbing on the way back up. The wife wasn’t impressed with rock climbing but otherwise liked the walk.

I probably have the OS routes in my OS app if it’s any use.

There is an easy path from Carl Walk to Higgor Tor :p
 
Saturday/Sunday overnight on a local beach. Not the best for light pollution facing the Milky Way but I think they will be okay.......

This was a non-tracked but stacked shot facing more south later in the morning. I fired the shots off quickly as I knew the sky would be getting light pretty soon.

I didn't even take separate foregrounds!!

My computer is dying... It's depressing on two count. Firstly I'm a bit tight. So there's that. Secondly years back I used to fix this stuff, I was company tech support for lap tops, amongst other things. These days. I just can't be ar$ed even if I could get the bits. So I'll just buy a new one :D

If you sold 67 manual lenses you could fix the pc.

Dell had a decent XPS with 11th gen i7 for about £1100 in the outlet this week.
 
The manual lenses are unfortunately staying as even if anyone wanted them what would I get? £30 a piece? If anyone wanted them. Maybe not worth the hassle :D

I'm using a 17" Samsung laptop.

When I was in the computer industry the house was full of them and I got to the point that I just couldn't stand the sight of them so ever since all I've had is laptops, the beauty being that when I'm not using it it can go away out of sight. I don't like seeing computers set up and in view as to me they make a room look like a workplace instead of a home.

This one is 17", i3, 2.53 gig, 1TB HDD, 4GB ram + a DVD so anything like that or better will be fine as processing pictures is as hard as it'll need to work. My nephew is really into computers and phones but not in the way that I was, I fixed the stuff and once it was working I lost all interest but he'll play with them all day. He's currently isolating as the whole dept was sent home so I've got him on the case and I'm sure he'll find me a nice one. Hopefully cheap too.

I told her that the monks used to play footie matches on the grass and the crowd stood in these cloisters. She believed me for about a nansecond. The light was so strong I was happy to see any detail outside.

I want a new laptop (Macbook Pro) to help make lightroom and Logic Pro X run faster/better but to upgrade from what I have now is going to casot £4k :eek: Bloody overpriced apple :banghead:

Since I started to receive my company pension my expenses seem to have doubled plus I taxed both cars this week and that cost over £400, my MX5 is vibrating at speed so is going in next Thursday plus now need a new PC, it's as if someone knows I've have more income now. Oh, the bathroom quote was twice what I thought it would be, I got two quotes and they're in the same ballpark so that must just be what they cost these days.

Do the bathroom yourself and with the money saved buy a new computer and fix the Mazda :)

B&Q do buckets for a quid buy 2, 1 for washing and 1 for s***ting in, with the money saved get that big fancy laptop you know you want.

My nephew came back with bad news as he couldn't find any with a decent spec in stock which is odd as I've found several in stock below £800. I think the problem is that he plays games so needs a fast pc but all I do is surf the net, do the banking and on line shopping and process and store pictures. I did read out the spec of this dying pc but that's sometimes the thing with people who are really interested in something, they sometimes spec the thing for themselves and what they do rather than for someone who does little that'll tax it too much. This one will happily process 200 raws or so, it takes a while but that's not really a problem.

i3 cpu, 64 bit, 2.53 gig, 4GB ram, 1TB HDD, 17" screen, DVD player, some USB ports and HDMI. That's about it. I don't need anything better as this pc does all I need... but at the mo the screens got lines it shouldn't have and it jumps about.

I might have a look at those plastic buckets. Not that I can get in the bathroom, someone else is always in there.

I'd be careful specing a PC based on your current camera, I know that you are resistant to change, but sometimes in the next few years you might invest in a newer body, and who knows it might have more MP

It's not that I'm really all that resistant to change, it's just with some things. I used to buy cars on a whim and recently went way over budget on an Exposure amp but I just have no interest these days in computers or phones so I almost resent having to spend decent money on one. Anyway, when my A7 dies I'll be replacing it with whatever the entry level is and today that would be the A7III.

The PC I'm probably ordering is i5, 16gb ram, 1TB HDD + 256 solid state, or something like that. £700 and surprisingly in stock. I think it's an end of line one as some are saying "No longer available." My nephew tells me the next thing with computers is in built encryption anti virus stuff.
 
Nandbytes sent me a M42 adapter with helicoid just for the price of postage :D and I tried it out today with a Takumar 50mm f1.4. This lens has a very unimpressive close focus distance but with the adapter it gets close enough for detail pictures.

This is a cheap Chinese automatic watch I bought for something like £18. I think this was at f2.8.

The idea is that this adapter will remove the need to use a close up filter with my M42 lenses.

Morning everyone. Been a long time since I have been on however I am looking into getting a 70-200 f4 and wondered what perception was here? I can trade in for a used one on MPB for a reasonable amount however I want to make sure it's right.
I want to use it as a walk around lens really, I have a 14mm Samyang, 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 currently and am looking at trading in my 28-70mm that came with my A7iii so I am hoping it fits nicely into my line up really?
Any advice is welcome...!
 
Depending on what you shoot, and whether or not it will be wide enough for a walkabout lens, its not a zoom I'd consider a walkabout lens.
I use the 24-105mm as my walkabout lens and for the money, it's a very good lens.....
