The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I was surprised they are starting to open south of the (North York) Moors things are so late here with often quite severe frosts almost every night through April.
The ones I saw were rather stunted and small due to drought too, but since that was also holding back more rampant stuff not a bad show in a few days time.

People are usually unhappy about trees being cut even when they were specifically planted as a crop, but letting light in is always a good thing for woodland life and regeneration or replanting creates a far more diverse area than the shady nothingness under mature trees.
Even 100% native broadleaves tend to have almost nothing below them after the canopy closes in May.

A7 and Chinon 28mm f2.8.

Seaweed mountain. I don't know if I've ever seen so much here.

It's very squishy and unstable to walk on.
I suppose the storms must have ripped it loose, have they actually piled most of it it there to collect later though
Unless another high tide takes it away it will stink to high heaven surely.

One more seaweed picture. I think the little girl liked paddling :D

I'm not sure anyone put it there, there were no tyre marks anyway. Maybe it just came in on the tide and will be out on the next.

The rumour guy says a high end aps-c camera is coming in May.

That's nice :D

It does look to be a very nice lens, maybe the best ever 14mm or there abouts lens? Maybe.

I am pondering trying to start earning some pennies from my equipment. Dog Photography might be just the thing so I had a trial run today. Client had two Staffies one of whom was a birthday girl. So hard shooting dogs running about and trying to identify the one who has a birthday when they both looked so similar. Lots of lessons learned and the A9 did really well despite me being a bit slow to changing circumstances and still not in fully versed in the best AF modes for certain circumstances.

Here are a few I liked

Just playing with Nik filters, Silver and then Analogue. It's supposed to be an Ilford film.

I remember taking a picture under here with a MFT camera and I think the 14mm f2.5 and being impressed how good it was at the ISO. I'll have to find it and compare.

Nice range of tones.

in 2 hours of shooting today I filled up £800 worth of memory cards... that's only 320gb

I formatted the JPGS off the secondary memory cards and continued raws onto those...

Annoyingly the memory card setup is saved to the 1/2/3 recorded profiles and the card write settings kept resetting if I switched..

Panamoz has the 50 f/1.2 G.M in stock now as well there advertised price is £1950.00

I expect it’ll settle at around £1700 sometime. But can anyone wait that long ?

theres a beautiful little wood with bluebells just a 10 minute walk from home that we found while exploring this time last year during lockdown 1.
By the look of it its still fairly unknown to the public. As we approached we spotted 3 dears, but they were off in no time. I toyed with the idea of setting the alarm this morning to head over for sunrise but it turns out im very lazy.

anyway - someone wanted Jelly after dinner so allowed me a few shots.

lovely shots!
have you tried that lens on R5/6?

I would love to take R5 with this lens for some wildlife trips I have coming up (or may be a 300mm f2.8). costs too much money to swap and buy them :(

thanks.

no - but its the main reason why ive been considering the full switch to canon. the lens works very well on the a9, but not flawlessly.

if you really wanted a 300mm f2.8 i'd highly recommend using the sigma on the canon. it works brilliantly and makes it such a bargain.

Just tell her they’re all empty and you bought them as a job lot to sell, because some people buy boxes for their stuff.

NOTE TO MYSELF

Next time you buy camera gear, remember to put the boxes out of sight in the loft.

Wife just asked where all the orange coloured boxes have appeared from all of a sudden

You are expressing your support of all things Dutch!

The process for people with spouses who just don't/won't understand :
1. wait at the door for delivery man to make sure he doesn't ring the bell (pretend you are cleaning the porch or trimming the bushes or putting the bins out).
2. take the box to your room/study/basement immediately.
3. carefully dispose of the cardboard box and hide the manufacturers box in the loft
4. test your new lens/camera carefully making sure you aren't over excited around them. Just pretend you are just playing with your toys as usual almost like "oiling" them.
5. sell your lens/camera if needed down to a level where she/he won't notice the difference.
6. Repeat the process.

Don't you know I still own a Sony A57 with sigma 18-250mm lens. :p

Clue: "The speed of moving forward" (4 letters)

Just a quick fun shot. A man doing a crossword at a leisurely 'pace'. And also, the 'cryptic' story in my mind is that the answer to the clue he's thinking about just happens to be right behind him. :D

1. Get all purchases delivered to work.......

I simply don’t open the boxes in MrsL’s presence. Tell her it’s a filter, or an adapter, or summat. Don’t know why; she’s not thick! Just understanding! And resigned to it.
