The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Poop, even I am tempted and I don't even need it, in fact I had a 20mm/1.8 Sigma before on EF mount and rarely used it.

The Sony 20mm f1.8 is a good lens. One thing that surprised me is that it focuses fast even in low light. It turns my leisurely A7 into a speed demon :D

I googled for reviews. They are cheap, but won't get my custom.
Not if you have to pay extra to insure for it going missing in transit.

You get a UK copy of 20G from Wilkinson camera for £755.
£100 cashback + 10% off with "SONY10" code.

That's pretty close to most grey prices, you support a good UK shop, warranty with Sony UK and a warm fuzzy feeling that you have paid your tax dues :ROFLMAO:

I'd rather save the extra from Panamoz. Get a better warranty as well, 3yrs Vs 2.

So I've ventured past f1.4 and noticed my sensor is absolutely filthy. What's the recommended cleaning kit these days? I don't think I've ever done it or had it done and both bodies probably over 100k clicks.
I use the inbuilt sensor clean followed by rocket blower, if that doesn't do the trick then wet clean with swabs (y)

That's very good. Mine was £759 from e-infinity back in April.

Its out of stock at Panamoz.
You save like £5
And its 2 years UK warranty without needing to pay upfront and chase Panamoz for refunds (I hear they are good but still...)
Last but not the least you aren't breaking the law :P

Fail at maths. Lol
Panamoz £679 Vs Wilkinson £754.
I said 2 years, I've used panamoz 3yr warranty before and it's easy. They arrange everything no chasing to be done.
I get it you don't like grey imports.

Unless you are looking in a different place its £750 at panamoz and out of stock

I definitely said I was going to get Panamoz to price match like I do each time. They have never not matched a cheaper price even on eBay.

They do sometimes do it but they don't always price match at least in my experience.
Unless you have a price match offer waiting in your inbox it's £750.
And sometimes they meet part of the way.

Not sure they can price match if it’s not in stock ... but I agree, I’ve never had them refuse to do so with in-stock items.

They've done it for me before, basically just an okay. You then order it when available, and email back and they refund the difference.

I have asked few times for price match and they normally don't for me anyway or only meet part of the way.
May be they like you folks more than they like me, tbh I have only purchased once from them and one other time had a warranty transfer for a used camera.

They matched right from my first purchase. I would prefer to buy from a UK shop if the price difference were only £50 or so, but when you save over £700 like when I bought my A7C and lens, well ...

No wonder - even an SLR would be grubby after all that use and thats with a mirror in the way.

Cleaning wise - I'd recommend a wet clean - lots on you tube on it - be gentle though. Or just pay a pro place to do it like fixation.

I spend most of my life at 1.4/1.8 so I’ve never really noticed. I’ll have a go with the rocket blower (if I can find one!) and see what is what.

I’ve bought lots from panamoz and they never price match, they give you some discount but definitely don’t price match.

I asked for a price match on a A7RIV and 200-600mm against E-infinity and they would as longs as I was happy with 7 day shipping rather than 2-3 days.

I must have dreamt it when they price matched my A7C, and A7R, 24-70f4, 35f2.8.

Ditto, although I still have the emails to prove it. Plus they gave me £130 refund when it failed to arrive and they had to re-send a week late.

I hate it when people say such-and-such never happens, or always happens, when in reality they can only go off their own experience.

Didn't say never :)
Just that in my (admittedly limited) experience they seldom price match. They did for A7C and I bought it from them.

They haven't given me such options.
Bought my A7RIV used and 200-600mm is a UK copy but got 10% off on release... So had it from day one.

No, it wasn’t you I was replying to. ;)

can anyone think of a small weather sealed lens between around 35-40-45mm to go on A7C?

We have a samyang 45mm f1.8 which is actually great but its not weathersealed and my missus wants one that is is weather sealed. AF lenses only please :)

they say that and they said the same about the original A7 (which was my first mirrorless body and lens way back when).
But it lacks a simple rubber gasket seal around the mount which doesn't instil me with a lot of confidence tbh.

The phoblographer update I added may be useful.

and here we go again sigma L-mount version is cheaper used than e-mount version.
The e-mount versions seem to hold their value far too well (good if you are selling but not ideal for buying :P )
