The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I totally forgot I had the 56mm Sigma

I know how that can happen.

I was looking at a picture recently and when I looked at the exif I couldn't understand what I was seeing... until I remembered I DID own that lens :D

Well the A9 is a great camera but not for me, kind of jumped in a bit quick, love the AF but i've decided to concentrate more on video and invested heavily in a decent gimbal so have listed it in the classifieds.

Isn't the A9 up to video?

I think the A7C is the one to get for video. Had a few things going for it over the others.

This looks quite nice...

Nisi 15mm f4 on the rumor site...

Direct to manufacturer...

On Philip Reeve's site...

"Sometimes lenses from new manufacturers leave a lot to be desired and lately we have often seen lenses with staggering specs at low pricepoints that ended up not being really useful because too many compromises had to be made.
Luckily this is not the case here, I found the NiSi 15mm 4.0 to be a useful lens that did not disappoint in the field.
I especially like that it was fully usable at f/4.0 (very little field curvature) and that vignetting at this aperture is comparably moderate."

Hmmm. The green cast in the corners would put me off. It may be fixable post capture but maybe too much faff on for me.

I thought this was interesting - shot through a window, but ISO 6400 (run through Topaz Denoise AI)
I think the image is also a decent illustration of the wafer thin depth of field at these focal lengths (looking at the boards of the fence).

A7iii with FE200-600mm, 1/1000th @ f6.3, 600mm.

I find it difficult to resist taking photographs of Robins!

"Excellent" wildlife shot Malcolm, well composed, great isolation, good colour and some fine detail.

Thank you for your kind comments, George.
I‘m really quite chuffed with the image! (y)

very nice. theres a real 3d effect there. how did it look before it went through the noise reduction software?

Wow, that denoise software is impressive, I might have to take a look at that. Does it integrate well with lightroom?

Perfectly - right click on the image in Lightroom, go to "edit in Topaz Denoise", straight in, edit, save back into Lightroom.

Couple of photos from a week ago when I was at St Pancras. Haven't been to London since and most definitely won't be going there until after end of march lockdown.
Anyway, this is a statue of John Betjeman, poet laureate.

Hah, cool nandbytes. What lens was that? Looks like ultra wide.

Actually a fisheye :)
Samyang 8mm f2.8

Nice. :) So that would be FF equivalent of 12mm focal length and would be a manual focus only I presume?

Yep that's right. It's Indeed manual focus only but a great little lens. Best fisheye I've used. Nothing like it available for FF.
