The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

What is the best remote shutter release for Sony Full Frame camera's, or is there a camera app that would work?
Don't fancy using the timer all the time.

Sony Imaging Edge app works really well for me. Even has bulb mode.

I always use the pixel remote shutter releases, easy to use and always been flawless for me (y)

Thank you both, thank god I got a Iphone.
I don't have an iPhone just use the Sony app that's designed for the cameras. Also gives GPS to the camera for geotagging as well.

Yes, I’ve got the 50 as well, sitting on the Contax which is loaded with a film (remember that?:D )

I've the ML28, ML50/1.9, my boy has my 50/2 and a Tokina RMC 70/80-200mm. I've had all the 50's at some point and almost recently bought a ML135 but I picked up the Contax Carl Zeiss 80-200mm T* instead ;) I have a FX3 super 2000 which I've had since new in the....... early 90's..... I also have an adapter to use M42 lenses on it such as my Helios 44-2

I do have a wired remote - only really take that with me at the coast though. Also a thingy programmable timer one for star trails etc - never used that one yet......

On the rare occasion I do need a remote I just use the phone app.

I use a JJC remote. The apps are too flaky for me.

There's a link on the rumour site to this review of the Kipon 24 and 90mm f2.4 lenses...

:banghead:

As we know, Mr Kipon does frame exceedingly good lakes.

The lenses look ok too.

I'm not tempted as I have lots of film era primes and my three modern Voigtlander e mount lenses.

For Nikon or Canon surely?

I've read many times that the Sony mount can't accommodate fast lenses. Those fanboys at Luminous Landscape will be very confused if anyone posts that link there :D

i am still surprised to see people talk about large mount.... so far I haven't seen anything (apart from one thing) that makes the large mount better. if anything i have only seen downsides for me.

but Canon IBIS is really really good, and may be all that extra room helps in that?

It's a nice lens. I have one on my A7 at the moment and used it only yesterday :D

The close focusing ability is nice for flower and leaf shots and things like that.

Enjoy, when Santa brings it :D

Think I have finally finalised my settings on my A7C.
These are just the main ones. The first two have made such a great difference to how I can use the camera. It's basically always set so I can quickly use the back button to take a photo of the little guy.

AF-S on the shutter button.
AF-C Tracking on the back button.
Video record button is magnifier.

I have the center button toggle through MyDial setups of which I have two which basically set ISO to the back dial and the top dial to either Aperture or Shutter speed depending which mode I'm in.

The delete button toggles between EFCS and silent. I'll use silent for anything stationary.

I'm really starting to like the look of that new Sigma 35f2 but I just wish it was that little bit faster at f1.8.

@woof woof might be of interest to you but you can set MyDial so the top dial can do both functions at the same time. I found the video button was on the ideal position, basically holding or pressing the video button toggles between AV and S for the dial.

Not too dissimilar to my settings. I exclusively use (for now) CAF on the AF-ON button. The C Button toggles the My Dial settings between “standard” and top dial for shutter, back wheel for ISO. This is especially for the Voigtlander 21mm, which of course has an aperture ring.

I've lost count of the number of times I've visited this woodland. This was the best I have ever seen it!

Wish I had your recipe for woodland!

Seen the 70-200mm f4 is £1049 at Harrison’s and then £100 cash back, seems a good price to me?

Just had the estimate for repair of my 55 f1.8 - £235.46.

:(

Fell from about 1M onto flagstones, landing on the mount & bending it. I'd loosened it off a little too much in preparation for swapping lenses, and it had moved beyond the point of friction & just fell off. This is the first time I ever dropped a lens - I hope it's the last.

Ouch 50% cost of a new lens to fix it. Is it not cheaper to get a second hand one.

Ouch !!

Definitely get it repaired. Should come back like new.
