The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

no one must be buying them lol.
for that much saving I'd have got the black :P
but then again I wouldn't order from e-infin
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Certainly looks like it's reduced due to lack of demand for the black version. Silver hasn't budged.
La-la-la (fingers in ears)

I'm bored so posting a few shots I don't think I've posted from my day at Camden. That's if anyone else is bored and wants to look at a few random photos. :)

Amy Winehouse, because she lived in Camden and I love her music.

This a new Busta Rhymes album released the day I was there. Perhaps a Banksy or maybe commissioned from the record company.

Nice set

The black A7c kit is the same price as the silver kit. I would guess the silver body won't be far behind dropping to the same price as the black.

Me no no what you talk about.
He mean you can buy more than one year's subscription and get them to run consecutively, thus fixing the price.

Had a little play with some really harsh lighting today, the DR of the A73 continues to amaze me, had to tweak the shadows and highlights a bit but can't believe how much information you can pull back on these Sony's.

Smoke On The Water by Pete Downham Photography, on Flickr

Really nice. I love the way you captured a real sense of depth and width, and drama with the clouds and smoke. Deep Purple would be proud of you. :giggle:

Cheers Lee, I do like a compressed view hence shot this at 105mm, I don't often do wide angle.

Yes, I must admit I had thought it was wide angle earlier until I looked up your exif and was surprised at it being 105mm. Interesting, something I've learnt today for my future scenery photos. I like the colour temperature in your photo as well.

A7 and Voigtlander 50mm f2.

They've got the decorators in.

I am hoping to be purchasing a Sony A6600 when we all get back to normal after CV19. To replace my Sony NEX5R as my main travel camera as my canon EOS 7Dii is just to big for hand language cases. As space is a premium when I travel light.
Is the eye AF as good as the canon R6 & R5 and does have animal eye AF as well ! ?
For speedlite I have looking at mika flash, has any one use this make and if so is it any good ?

Steve Huff raves about the Signa 85mm f1.4 DG GN...

I'm sure it has lovely rendering but it does look big next to the Sony f1.8 which doesn't always give lovely rendering.

I had completely forgotten Mr Huff after discovering his other Youtube channel, i really can't take anything he says seriously now.
But would love the sigma 85mm 1.4 after other reviews.

It actually isn't much larger than my 24GM or FE85 but it's dense and heavy.

No but smartphone cameras fix that quickly ;)

I fancy that lens as well, think I have settled on the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and the Tamron 28-200 just can't decide which to get first.

I'm not one for swapping lenses while I'm out and about but I like to try and take the best lens for that trip. So the Tamron would be good when I want ultimate range, the Sigma still decent range but higher quality and faster.

The tamron won't be as good as sigma but it's still very decent. Really happy with it on the A7C.

I have got primes for the A7RIV.

My kit generally is:
A7RIV+12-24, 24GM, 85mmART
A7C+28-200mm, samyang 45mm/1.8

Fits nicely in my PD messenger 13 bag.

For wildlife I take
A7RIV+200-600mm
A7C+28-200mm
No lens swapping and brilliant coverage.

A7C+28-200mm fits in my photography vest :D
So I have A7RIV around my neck/shoulder and other in my pocket or on the PD clip.

And if my missus is with me she carries the A7C with samyang 45mm

I struggled with the colours & saturation with my woodland images from a few weeks ago for some reason which isn't like me. So much so, that I've been going back to them since & tweaking them - I've only stuck one up on Flickr so far......

I've just imported yesterday's woodland images into LR & quick tweaks are almost spot on :p:rolleyes:

So. Hypothetical question. A7C and Sony 24-70 or Tamron 28-75? Or primes? For landscape photography - weight-saving is important.

Gone through the same thoughts recently. Tamron 28-75 nice and light but lack of 24mm is a problem.
Going for the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and the Tamron 28-200 for my zoom lenses.
Already got the 35 f2.8 and 50 f1.8 eventually will add something like the Samyang 14mm and a Macro at some point and that will do me.

I think it depends on what you class as 'landscape', where you go and what you like to shoot.

One lens for me would be the 40/1.2 General coastal and countryside I would say maybe a mid zoom like the Tamron. If I frequented the mountains quite often I'd maybe be 100-400GM......

I almost never use a lens longer than, say, 120mm. I tend to prefer wider - I have the APSC 10-24, which actually works on FF without vignetting from 12mm to 17mm. I was also (hypothetically) considering the kit zoom, but the aperture puts me off.

The Sigma 24-70 is over my weight specification, and possibly also my price point. I was also (hypothetically) considering a clutch of Samyangs instead of a zoom.

I wouldn't go for kit zoom really. Probably the Tamron if I were in your shoes for its size and weight vs performance. It's easy enough to stitch images these days if you need wider. In fact, I quite often stitch 40mm images instead of using the 21mm.

Yeah the weight of the Sigma is on my mind as well. But it would mostly be my lens of choice for the children for instance. When i go hiking the Samyang 14mm, travel and full days out the Tamron 28-200.

I actually might get the Tamron first, it might surprise me and i may not bother with the Sigma.

A7c still on my radar. Of course I can’t help thinking of what to pair it with. Probably from my existing stock, the Sammy 45 for travelling light. The Tammy 28-75 for walkabout.

I'd skip both and go with tamron 28-200mm.

I'd personally look at something like 28-200mm, 12-24mm f4 (or tamron 17-28mm) and a small prime like samyang 45mm f1.8.

While there are many small lenses there isn't anything small and light past 85mm. So the tamron 28-200mm is very nice lens IMO that covers an excellent range with a reasonable sharpness and size.
