For living things yes as you never know what might happen but I would rather do that than miss "The shot" it does not take me to long to go through them and pick out the real keepers.

It depends what I’m taking. If it’s landscapes I don’t take many but with wildlife capturing the peak of the action is easier with higher FPS (not that I use it at the full 20fps). I won’t kept any where near that amount. With the electronic shutter there isn’t wear like there is with mechanical shutters so it feels worth using the benefits it provides.

Been a long time since shooting landscapes.... time to get back into it a bit. Autumn normally passes me quickly because work is at its busiest. but working home these days frees up some commuting time.

Hi guys. I've set up wi-fi on my a6600, and Sony Imaging Edge on my phone. Does anyone here use that app? It seems quite useful that I can use it as a remote. It's got bulb mode but no timer. But I guess I can use my watch. Which reminds me, does the a6600 have a bulb timer built in? I couldn't find one.

The thing is, as a remote control, Imaging Edge needs wi-fi and doesn't seem to be able to make use of bluetooth except for location tagging. So if I'm standing in a field with the camera on a tripod, how can I use wi-fi to use the remote, wouldn't the camera or phone need a wi-fi hotspot?

it sets it own WiFi network, you want need a home style WiFi network.
 
So not a single place in UK has the A7C but e-infinity does :facepalm:
Apparently they won't have it till end of the month ether.

Wouldn’t your phone act as its own hot-spot? In other words, get the camera to “log on” to your phone. If it’s an iPhone, enable “personal hotspot”.

Went walking in waterfall country South Wales yesterday.

Lovely weather for walking but the strong sunlight made shooting waterfalls and woodland a bit tricky.

Oh, and walking for 6 miles in waders isn't to be recommended.

Thanks guys. Great stuff, I'm really pleased that it sets its own wi-fi. But I don't understand how the camera does that or how my phone would act as its own hotspot. I guess I don't understand wi-fi enough as I thought you had to be in a wi-fi zone to pick up wi-fi. For instance, if I'm away from home with just my phone, unless I'm in a wi-fi zone, I can only use my EE mobile data.

EDIT: Ok, I see in my phone settings under connections there's 'mobile hotspot and tethering'. Mobile hotspot is off, and bluetooth tethering (it says 'share your phone's internet connection using bluetooth') is off. Shall I enable hotspot for the camera to see the phone? It says it'll increase data usage.

Neither of them will use any data, because the camera isn’t transmitting to the outside world. It’s just a connection twixt the two. If, say, the camera wanted to send a picture straight to Flickr, as an example, then it would use data, but you are just setting up a local area network.

The other way is to get your phone to link to the camera’s wi-fi, the same as you can link the phone in a wi-fi zone.

The camera sets up it's own little WiFi network, which your phone (or tablet, laptop, etc) then connect to.

You don't need to make a change on your phone, UNLESS it is set to automatically switch to the 'best' network - in which case it may connect to the camera, then automatically switch away when it finds the camera does not provide access to the internet.

'Hotspot' on your phone is an option for your phone to act as a WiFi router for other devices, sharing it's internet connection (via Data) to a tablet, for example. - you don't want that in this case.

I didn't even consider the lockdowns when I set off.

Where I was the coppers would have to have been really lucky to find me.
