Sounds good. Don't get me wrong the focussing's ok on the 70mm, just being focus by wire sometimes i focus and it goes past the point I want in focus so have to go back a bit. It's just getting used to it that's all.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the quality. It's the sharpest lens I've ever owned.

they claimed 70mm to be the best of the best and this 105mm to be even better than that.

currently i am using loawa 100mm macro, I will only swap if there is a 2x TC for sigma to get me 2:1 magnification like the loawa does.

If it's as good as the 70mm I've just bought it'll be incredible.

Does the 105 focus by wire as that's the only thing that's a little frustrating on the 70mm?

AFAIK no-one is making AF lenses with a mechanical focus ring any more.

The only one may be the Olympus 17mm f1.8 for MFT. I think that has mechanical focus when you engage it. It's a lovely lens.

I think all the Olympus Pro lenses have mechanical focus capabilities if you require.

I've been having issues with focus stacking in Photoshop 2020 recently.

If I have a stack of only 4 or 5 shots PS gives me an out of memory error when stacking. Which is crap when I have 16GB RAM

So I thought I'd try Helicon Focus Pro. Way way better and quicker than PS and utilises my Nvidia GTX1660S hardware acceleration too.

Very nice images. Have you actually bought the Helicon or is it on trial? What is your lighting set up like for these shots?

Hi Laurence,

Yes I bought the Pro version for about £53.

I had 2 Lencarta Smartflash 2's lighting the left & right with Bowens 100cm softboxes.

To the high rear slightly to the right I had a Godox V1 in a Bowens adaptor with a 60cm softbox.

Black muslin backdrop.

You seemed to miss this...

The zeiss was faulty, it was decentered. They confirmed after I sent my test shots via email. So was the Samyang which we now know isn't uncommon, even after spending hrs adjusting via the dock it was off different distances. I then got a sigma... from the same shop.

Sorry @twist
Not so much missed it, was just far to drunk to notice. It appears I thought I was funny at the time.
Nothing has been funny today :puke:

Unusual results for the footballists  :$

I got a bargain on evil bay. I go a Nikon 50mm f1.4 ai-s at what I think is a good price, certainly cheaper than some go for. That's it now, I won't be buying any more lenses for a while now as I have all I need.

Was having a terrible day but just seen the Liverpool score. Every cloud and all that.

The match was on here but I managed to miss every goal.

I had a funny with a third party battery. It would only charge to 90% in my charger but charged to 100% when left in the camera and charged via usb from the pc. How strange. All my other batteries charged to 100% in the charger.

My own little sharpness test.

A7 and Nikon 28mm f2.8 ai-s. See the blue sky? It didn't last.

100% looks very sharp on my screen.

I really like this old lens and in fact I think it's a good lens no matter how old it is. It does feel as if it's built to last.

Sony 28mm f2 at f2 because I like my MX5.

I'm taking Mrs WW to school today and it'd be nice to disappear for just half an hour for a walk with my camera but the weather is crap, fret in the air, there's no sky and the light is just awful so why bother.

The rumor site says one new lens is coming this year and the two fast GM's are coming in early 2021.

I think I'd be more interested in an A7cII with front dial, exposure lock / AF/MF switch and button and possibly a better evf and a couple more custom buttons.

Do you ever think they’ll put a front dial on? They don’t seem to ever have wanted to with the A6xxx :(

No. As I said in an earlier post they don't seem to think that RF style cameras need one. They changed from the Nex 7 layout (I think that was the one...) to the A6xxx layout and have ignored the many who've asked for a front dial ever since.

Without wishing to sound like a snob or someone stuck in 1953 I still can't imagine who Sony thinks will buy the A7c as to me it seems to be made for use in green square mode by people who want the camera to do everything but the price doesn't seem to match, IMO. My fear is that if sales are slow instead of looking at adding the controls I'd like they'll think people don't want a mid to higher end RF style body. Maybe Nikon or Canon will do this sort of camera better and push Sony into responding.

If they don't I expect the camera will still take a good photo.

Of course it will and if you use aperture, shutter and manual modes the controls are there to be used, they're just not where I'd want them to be. The only issue is that you have to use your thumb to alter all of the setting and if you're happy with that it'll be fine. I'm not fine with that. This is one of the issues that's kept me from buying into the A6xxx series.

I do know that if I do weaken and buy this camera it'll annoy me every single time I pick it up. Damn you Sony.

Anyone got or tried the Sigma 40mm f/1.4 ? I know it's a big beast but the focal length interests me, weight isn't a problem.

Got me interested. Didn’t know about it and checked it out. Really fancied it until I saw how heavy it is. Not for a weakling like me.

At Chew Valley Lake the other weekend. A7 & CV40.

Nice, got some nice pop that lens. Do you have any similar shots at f1.2? Just had a browse of your photostream, superb (y)

Yeah it's a beast, however i've always viewed that as offering some free stabilisation LOL

Thanks. Car stuff? I don't think I do at that aperture but I'll have a look later on (y) I mainly shoot cars at 85mm

Nice! Not overly restored. Jealous.

Cheers. Yes, wanted it nice. But didn't want it perfect. I kept things like the original bumpers showing a little bit of age and pitting, etc

I went out to buy a new daily driver yesterday. Went out with the intention of getting a used bog standard BMW 320d. Have had loads of them before and they will eat up the miles.

Came home with a Skoda Octavia VRS instead. A Skoda :ROFLMAO: the Pentax of the car world.

Thing shifts pretty good. Love it:cool:

My friend had one of those, they are pretty good.

Good cars. I’ve had 3. Yeti, Kodiaq, and now Karoq. Never a minutes trouble.

Pretty sure Skoda's still use the same parts as VWs and Audi's - Skoda makes great cars, a few members of my family swear by them.
