The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I hope you're very happy with your kit :D

Thank you Alan! Don't know when it'll all arrive, but suffice to say I'm extremely excited to get a bunch of high quality toys to play with.

I am receiving one little goodie today though. My Manfrotto 200PL Pro QR plate is out for delivery. :)

With Leica and sigma behind it the mount may be alive for longer than Z mount.

Not really proper leica market, still unsure why sigma jumped into bed with them so quickly. Probably for bragging rights. If the Zs pull a 2nd gen canon Sony better watch out.

Probably because it saves them having to develop a new mirrorless mount themselves. So it's a saving on R&D (might be why a lot of their new lenses are really well priced). I remember Yamaki-san in an interview claiming they were different to other 3rd manufacturers because they tested lenses on their own cameras and sensors. They used the SA mount to test their DSLR lenses.

I don't have high hopes for the new Zs to be any more than an incremental improvements with dual card slots and a grip.
Nikon have spread their limited resources too thinly by focusing both on dSLRs and mirrorless.

Pick your brains, chaps.
I've sold my A7R iv, so currently have an A7 iii and GM100-400 & FE 200-600mm for my birding. I want to add another body with really good autofocus capabilities.
Being only 'an enthusiastic amateur' the attraction of the A9 ii seems to be an extravagance.
Is there anyone who can comment on the A6600 performance when coupled with the above FE lenses?
Thanks in advance.

UK digital is selling sigma 85mm art for £929

@snerkler they also do 0% finance by looks of it. Time to send things back ;)

Do you mean you sold A7RIV?

I'd suggest the original A9 instead which has the best AF bar the A9II.

Just looked, doesn’t look like 0% is available on that lens (y)

Fair enough but probably still worth trying to get them to match £929
I don’t see how I can since I’ve already bought them lens o_O

Thanks, now amended my post - currently in Portugal suffering from jetlag and the local vino!

If there is something wrong with it or he changes his mind, not if it's found to be cheaper.

he can change his mind because he's found it at a cheaper price elsewhere.
in face if shop reduce the price within the return period and you spot it they normally refund the difference. not much different really.

You seemed to miss this...

The zeiss was faulty, it was decentered. They confirmed after I sent my test shots via email. So was the Samyang which we now know isn't uncommon, even after spending hrs adjusting via the dock it was off different distances. I then got a sigma... from the same shop.

looks awesome, would have been even better if it worked with sony TCs since the sigma ones aren't available on e-mount.

Agreed- I mostly use a 105mm as is, with no TC's but some folk may find it lacking because of the lack of TC's :)

I'm just happy to see this lens in e mount

TC and the A7RIV in crop mode should be superb (y). Shame I find macro extremely frustrating

If it's as good as the 70mm I've just bought it'll be incredible.

Does the 105 focus by wire as that's the only thing that's a little frustrating on the 70mm?

Not sure to be honest Terry - click the link for full spec :)
