The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

You probably know far more about these bikes than me Trevor, but I'm sure a pretty good scrambler called "Dave Bickers" (might have spelt his name wrong) used to ride one of those.

George.

That’s right George. Famously the Greeves Challenger

The rumor site says that Sony received twice as many advance orders in Japan for the AV1 than they expected.

That may mean we'll see more of this sort of thing. I wonder if some of the same sort of target audience will take to the A7c?

How many did they expect? 1. jk.

I appreciate its confusing, that what Adobe do lol. A new Cache for Every Catalog is created. The Catalog is stored separately from the Camera Raw Cache/Previews, currently my Catalog is 138MB for 7700 images and the Camera Raw/Preview Cache I have is 31GB with retentions for 30 days. If I make a new catalog then all my photos, collections will be temporarily gone from Lightroom view but they are still stored safely on my SSD so when I load the old catalog they will return.
Just had a look at where the raw caches are stored and there's over 34k files in there taking up 10GB of storage.

I've no idea, just taking it on face value.

Maybe Googling Amazon or other best sellers in Japan might give a clue. It might not be for me but I can imagine it selling well. Maybe ditto the A7c if it is as rumoured.

Yeah, it would've done alright, I just don't like it when people post random stuff like that without any figures to hype products.

Nice holiday camera :D

(when holidays are back on)

Yeah, possibly.

I am more interested in the new range of lenses that will come eventually for this.

They are going to sacrifice some performance for size with the new V lenses, will be interesting to see what they can do in terms of small 35,50,85 f/1.4 lenses.

It'll probably be very tempting with a 35mm f2.8.

A BIG YES to compact lenses even if there's some drop in ultimate IQ across the frame. A BIG NO to slow crappy hunting cheapo focus systems.

Be surprised and disappointed if there is a 35 f/2.8, everybody seems to think when they launch the V primes they will all be f/1.4.

Most people seem to think that they will sacrifice a little bit of sharpness, C.A control and vignette with the new V lenses, would be silly move to cripple a.f with the A7C having the a.f from the A7SIII.

I meant the existing 35mm f2.8. Like wot I have.

Yes, it would be stupid to use a sub par focus system but they've done it already with the 50mm macro and f1.8.

Not Sony but I just feel the need to share this for those not sat in front of a TV... A woman on This Morning is urging us to "Get in touch with our inner Unicorn."

"When you think about a Unicorn it starts to connect with you."

Well. I'm in :D

I think life is to short to wish I`d tried something, hence why I`m getting so much.

I agree. If you have the free cash, go for it.

I have a number of film era 24mm f2.8's the best being the Minolta Rokkor. For a modern wide AF lens I went for the Sony 20mm f1.8 but sadly haven't had chance to use it yet. My dream is to see and photograph the Northern Lights one day/night :D I don't know when that will happen though.

Those lenses are ancient though, wouldn't expect any new lens to be so poor in terms of a.f, unless of course it's a Samyang.

Those ancient lenses are newer than ones that have much better AF.

Just put it on the A73 and it just feels lovely, shame I have to wait in still for Tesco so it will have a test tomorrow.

What will you use it for?

Everything? Astro? Landscape?

I like wide lenses for the perspective, environmental people pictures and getting a lot of scenery and sky in :D

A bit of everything really, but more for indoor Church images.

FE 24mm f1.4 GM to be delivered today

That's sort of why I've held back on the 24GM - I was in here on about it a few weeks ago but I just don't think I'd be using it enough......
