The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Guys
Although I'm happy with the results from my A7ii, I find the AF slow with my 200-600mm.
I'm thinking the natural step would be the A7iii.

I'm wondering though if I should consider one of the 6000 series cameras for wildlife etc, and keep my A7ii for landscapes etc.
I'm confused though on which one I should look at? Or not....

Or just get the A7iii and use it for everything?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

I’m considering the following trio of fixed length lenses for my new A6xxx system: Sigmas 16, 30, and 56mm f1.4. Any comments, particularly adverse? I should add that I already have the Sony 10-16 and Sony 18-135, but these will mainly be reserved for the A6000. The prime lenses will hopefully be for an A6500.

I had the Signa prime trinity when I had an A6400 they were all excellent with the 16mm being particularly good.

Loving the 135m GM

Went for a wander around Hampton Court today and caught some posh people as they were leaving the Concours d'Elegance

The guy in the bottom shot looks familiar, celebrity ???

Now this is a cracking set mate, see you are really getting to grips with the lens.

For wildlife we need fast and accurate AF, both a6500 and the a6600 have fast AF for the class but the a6600 certainly has the edge.
The a6600 has a much newer sensor and has 425 phase detection points compared to the a6500 which has "only" 160.
I'm using the a6500 to get into wildlife video but for wildlife stills I use the A9.
Buy a used A9
Just seen your comment about cost, we're almost all of us faced with this dilemma, the a6600 will be excellent and being APSC will give you extra reach but the a6500 will do well.

I have the Sigma 16mm F1.4 which I use on my a6500 and a9 in APSC mode which makes it an effective 24mm.
It's very sharp and versatile, gives lovely OOF backgrounds and has an incredibly short MFD, I love it.

Im in a similar boat to yourself with my a7ii. Im thinking of going a7iv imported at £2200ish which I think is a great price and around my budget. I wouldn't shoot as much wildlife so the A9 would be wasted on me and I think I would prefer the extra Megapixels for cropping. The A9 & A9ii are obviously class leading autofocus and the A9 is on panamoz for £2290 or the A6600 for £1180. I appreciate its easier to spend someone else's money but I think you are probably looking at the A9 series and maybe better to wait a tad till its in your budget, buy once, buy right and all that. A9 and your 200-600 go together like Salt & Vinegar!!

There have been some reports of issues using the 200-600mm with the A7R IV but I'm not exactly sure what they are and how common. Other members on here will explain better I'm sure (y)

Yeah, I'm thinking if I wait 6 months, I could get an original A9.
I know if I get anything else, I'd always be hankering after an A9...

I wish..lol As it`s not looking like I`m getting the 90mm macro anytime soon I thought I`d get the FE 24mm f1.4 GM as when I get to go inside some churches it will be great.
You can repent your spending sins

Why not consider the highly rated Laowa macro lens instead or as a stop gap.

Not necessarily, a lot of wildlife I shoot is pretty static in which case AF becomes less important and thinks like noise handling may be more of a priority.
