When comparing IQ how are you basing it, are you cropping the 400 mm to give the same fov or are you getting closer with the 400mm so comparing a ‘full frame’ with both?

Haven't done side by side. But I don't notice any difference in sharpness between the two in my birds.
 
Think we just spoilt for choice

I have a Minolta mount 70-210mm, I've forgotten what make it is, maybe a Tokina, but I think it's variable aperture. I haven't used it for years so I'll have to get it out and at least see what it is and maybe have a play. I really don't like push pull zooms though and that's why it's been sitting unused. I used to have an old x2 adapter for it and I remember that the image quality with that was just pants.

I’ve always fancied having a dabble with a scope so bought a starter skywatcher a couple of years back. Pretty under whelmed with it tbh. Nearly sold it a few months back but thought maybe it was me, so do plan to get my head around it sometime soon. Now could be a good time for it!

is the last taken with the 70-200? just shows 200mm 2.8 Sam which I couldn't find when googling

Canon 200mm f/2.8L II with MC-11 Adobe always labels it DT 200mm f2.8 Sam

That should be the easy bit, I didn't get around last time to working out how the EQ mount worked and the finder scope was a bit hit and miss

We never use it to be honest.

We still have the kit eye pieces and they really should be upgraded for better imaging and eye relief.

We've seen Saturn but it was small even with this thing.

Jupiter is cool with the 4 moons.

I couldn’t see much detail at all of planets and was left feeling very underwhelmed. My binoculars were nearly as good by comparison. Maybe i was expecting too much for £170?

It will be the zeiss lenses that'll get replaced I think to bring them in line with G/GM branding. They seem have come away from zeiss lenses in recent times for ILC.

Mine was under 300 but I reckon it's the eye pieces that make the difference.

The moon shot is sharp so it follows that the scope's good. Just need a couple of eye pieces I think.

I'm not and never will be in he market for these lenses. I was just thinking the other day I'd love it if Voigtlander did a 50mm f1.4 about the size of their 35mm f1.4 classic. I mighty even sell some of my film era lenses if they did.

Same, aint going to be an (un)popular choice.
 
I'd have thought 50 f1.2 would have the greatest appeal. Makes no sense to do a 35 when Sigma already have that market, but it does make sense to give people a reason not to buy a Nikon.
 
I think it'll be a 50/1.2 in all honesty for popularity.

It could be a 40mm though......?? Maybe influenced by the interest for the Voigtlander 40/1.2 & also improving on the Batis40 with it's initial issues & only being f/2.

I can't see it being a 35mm with the Sigma (unless it's a lot smaller/lighter) or an 85mm not with the f/1.4GM
