With the streets much quieter, this might be the perfect opportunity to take some cityscape shots to have no people in the shot....

I did decipher what your were trying to say in that message, but I current have an A7riii, A7iii, 28-75 2.8, 35mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8, 24mm 1.4 18mm 2.8, 70-200 f4.

Think I’m covered for weddings cheers.

Whoops, forgot the Fuji stuff I have as well :)

No. I raised a valid point, trying to save you £400 or so. You then started to criticise me for asking for gear advice a few months ago (for which I received criticism even though I already had better gear that tonnes of wedding togs). I since then have purchased more gear and am now more than equipped.

You still haven’t said what your issue is, you’re simply deflecting because you’ve made an issue out of nothing.

I get on just fine with people that are reasonable, cheers.

There are plenty of reviews about but here's mine :D

If you've ever seen the 55mm f1.8 the 35mm f1.8 is almost exactly the same size.

It's sharp from wide open and very sharp stopped down, it focuses closer than you'd expect a 35mm too and that can come in handy, there doesn't seem to be any significant distortion or excessive vignetting and it's relatively fast to focus. It's almost all good :D

The question marks seem to be over the bokeh and ca. I think the bokeh is pretty much par for the course for a sharp 35mm lens and although there can be ca I don't think it's a serious issue or even that unusual. I've seen it in pictures but it doesn't bother me and sometimes you have to zoom in to make it obvious to anyone but us geeks.

I like the 35mm length and whilst you can do that with the 28-70mm you can't do it at f1.8 (to whatever...) plus the prime has a quite close minimum focusing distance.

I do think that the kit zoom is an under rated lens. I don't use mine much and in fact the last time I used it I only did because I thought it was the 85mm f1.8 :D but I do think that lens and a f1.8 prime could cover 99% of many peoples needs, including mine :D

If Andrew fancies a 35mm f1.8 I wish him luck and much enjoyment from it :D

Every time I have a gander on the thread there's a pair of numpties having some sort of willy waving contest. What is it with photographers, do they all have small d*cks or something?

Most of them have one of one size or another as women seem to be a tiny minority on this and other photography forums.

Ridiculous thing to say, I was simply defending myself from someone that took a dig because they got offended over me trying to help them out.

Slightly different as not just talking about online photography communities but I find it interesting that in the U.K working photographers tend to be male, there are plenty of female photographers around but it is still mainly a male dominated industry.

In the states, it's more like a 50/50 split and probably leaning towards females.

In the states photography is viewed almost like part of the gig industry, there is a much lower percentage of full time photographers than in the U.K. So it appeals to women with young kids and especially to women who have partners in the armed services as it's somthing that can be done on a part time adhoc basis. "Mom photographers".

There is always the exception to the rule but the majority of them don't care about equipment really. A lot of them from a technical point of view don't have a clue and it's not uncommon for them to have never used a flash, have little to no understanding of basic things like the exposure triangle etc. That doesn't stop them from producing great images though. From a gear point of view it would surprise you how many of them run succesful photography businesses with their only equipment being a couple of camera bodies and 35mm & 50mm lenses.

Perhaps it will be similar here in the future.

I also think that women don't like message boards like this one so much apart from the odd exception like pregnancy forums etc. With the female photographers anyway they tend to be in all the Facebook and Telegram etc groups.

Women also seem to be a lot more supportive of each other online they will always back each other up, I see it quite a lot on the wedding photography groups on Facebook, even awful photos will get interaction and supportive messages rather than being ripped apart as they normally would. Donlt think I have ever seen two women argue about equipment unlike in here were some people seem to want to start an argument in an empty room.

That does appear the case. There’s many inspired ladies that have developed through the likes of Sue Bryce and Meg Bitton.

Yeah there is quite a few like Megan DiPiero for portraits, Susan Stripling for weddings etc. they all have big facebook groups with 95% of the members being other women. There is always the excpetion to the rule of course and Susan would be very equipment orientated and has very good technical knowledge mostly learned from her husband to be fair.

Where are you going Jonathan? Aren't you worried about not getting back home or being held for two weeks when you got back? Lock down isn't too far ahead, my kids schools have already set up remote working from home stuff for the kids for when the schools are told to close.

I have just cancelled two trips I had planned for myself.
