No but I had a pair of Sony SF-G 64GB SD cards, probably the fastest writing cards on the market! :D Recommend them highly.

I have the manfrotto tough ones I bought in Jan and those are bit of a tight fit. But not something that worries me in terms of damaging the camera.

Typical, the Sony tough cards I was looking at have now went out of stock.

Looks they probably won't come back in as there is a newer faster and much more expensive version available.

64gb is way too small for my needs and the larger capacity cards go into mental money.

No surprise thre, they haven't got access to Fujo-X (and obviously don't want to reverse engineer) and the same probably applies to Canon RF and Nikon Z, maybe at the moment they don't have a lot of choice in where to develop new products.

Plus of course if we believe what's been said the Sony system is selling in much higher numbers than the competition from Canikon and others. For all I know it may simply not be worth developing lenses for some systems at this time as they may not be selling in sufficient numbers.

Should have the word Mirrorless in there, don't think for one moment that Sony is outselling Canon worldwide!

That may be the case but we have to consider two further things and they are firstly that many people who buy Canon DSLR's are buying basic cheapo models that come with one or perhaps two kit lenses and Sigma moved out of the cheaper than a Canon kit lens market years ago. Secondly like it or not mirrorless is the future.

should've got the manfrotto ones on offer :P

I looked at them when they where on offer but with them being an unknown brand for cards and only being available in 64gb and 128gb they weren't for me.

I would prefer 256gb cards.

@Raymond Lin - are you back to the UK and do you have any problems with the current Covid-19 issues?

I got back about 2 weeks ago, as a precaution I spent the first 2 weeks in isolation working from home. There were no personal/physical checks at the airport apart from a little delay "checking the aircraft".

I only just got my freedom back on Sunday! And we are facing a possible lock down again in a week I think! Lol, went out and not so much stock up, but refilled my cupboards again with a little more. Things move quick, the UK is on course to be where Italy is now in 2 weeks if you look at the numbers. We are not doing anything to alter that course, Cheltenham festival is still going, football played last night. There are some private events postponed like the Photography show but that is on the onus of the people running it, not from the government.

I bought two 128GB cards :)
There are actually only few people who manufacturer memory the rest are just rebranding.

256GB ones are rather expensive both in terms of money and should the data get corrupted.

You have taste Snerkler!

Just had Liam's Dirtchamber Sessions on while travelling to work, Still a masterpiece!

To keep this on subject, how are you finding the 100-400GM?

:)
I'll have to have a listen to that, (y)

Not used the 100-400mm for anything other than photographing the dog yet, but focus and IQ are impressive (y)

Yeah the Manfrotto cards are supposedly rebranded ProGrade cards which would worry me with reliability as I know a few people who have had issues with those although to be fair you could say that about any of the brands, I guess.

Most of the 256gb cards are double the price of the 128gb cards as you would expect.

From hassle point of view having a 256 with a 256 back up is a lot handier for me than having 4 x 128.

I agree, its bit of a risk but one I felt was worth taking at the price.

The issue isn't the initial cost of a 256GB card. if you lose/break one then replacing it is more expensive and more importantly you lose 256GB worth of data instead of 128GB.

Found out about this location earlier in the week so I had to pay a visit.

You may have said and if so sorry if I've missed it... how are you getting on with the Sony system now you've used it a few times?

I have had plenty of cards corrupt but never both cards at the same time so I feel pretty safe in that the back up card would be fine.

Really like it, overall very happy. Camera's great to use and IQ is incredible. It's a shame that the EVF has the artefacts I mentioned a while ago as it does disappoint a touch when using it, and it bugs me that a lot of functions are disabled whilst it's writing to the card, but these are only minor in the grand scheme of things.

The functions being disabled when writing annoys the hell out of me!
But can't say I have noticed any artefacts in EVF. What is this?

This is what I filmed, although this video shows it much worse and I found that turning off anti flicker improved it, but didn't irradiate it. It's worse when pointing the camera at a bright light course.

ah that yes, noticed it when pointing at the sofa in the office which has patterns on it.
Didn't bother me much so forgot about it.

For me its the camera lockup when writing to SD card that annoys me greatly.

Ok, we are in the same scenario it happened to me on my return last week so I have started self-isolation until my Employer is happy for me to return to the office.

I'm not used to working from home but I kinda enjoying it at the moment, no commuting haha... and I took too many photos  as a result of that, I need to upgrade my NAS storage again!

Glad you returned safely :)

It said on the rumour site the other week that Sony are working on providing a firmware update for the A7RIV that will allow it to shoot at a lower resolution that would be a big advantage.

I spoke to our telephone support (it is an outsourced company), the tech is swamped under at the moment because everyone is trying to set up to work from home. A lot of companies is trying to put it in place ASAP.

I can actually take the work phone home and the number follows the phone, as long as I can get a powered by ethernet port router for it to connect to.

Thanks, at least I know it's normal now (y)

Just discovered if I put EVF refresh rate on standard instead of high it gets rid of the artefacts

Ahh if you don't know it, it's definitely worth a listen. Absolute genius in my opinion.

Good to hear you're happy with the performance of the new glass! :)

Pretty sure that was already mentioned.
yep I mentioned it many many pages back I think lol
I can't remember/missed it being mentioned but I did try that early days, but it must have been with anti flicker still set. Now with anti flicker off and refresh rate standard it's much better. Still not as good as the Z7 but very good (y)

I assume the faster the write speed of the card the less time the camera spends being 'inactive'?

better than Z7 IMO for most part. Z7 was better than A7RIII but the RIV is noticeably higher res.

I use some of the fastest ones available :)

The A7RIV might have more detail but it's not as nice still imo. I'm happy with it though, the camera on the whole is great.

Does it speed up the process? I've been using Lexar 1667 (250mb/s read, 120mb/s write) but have just ordered some Lexar 2000 (300mb/s read 260mb/s write) in the hope that it does.
