She got me into photography, and we've learn together over the last few years :ROFLMAO:

Nice mate, colours are lovely.

Cheers, I'm coming to love the Tamron after being very 'anti-zoom'

Maybe what they need is competition that frightens them. That could read to improvements that exceed expectations.

Yeah, looking at a9ii and riv they need another kick up the ass. I expect leaps like mk2 to mk3 :D

I notice you're taking or posting lots more photos since going f/1.8

Yeah, I really do prefer prime lenses however the GM lenses were not bad at all at f2.8.
I am trying harder to use it more, even if its just around the house to begin with.....
With my 35mm, 55mm and 85mm f1.8 primes, its a relatively small setup which I can throw in a think tank shoulder bag if required instead of a giant ruck sack! lol :D

I think it's great that you're using it more. (y)

I don't think he has a cash flow issue. If he's not using the a9, he won't use the A7iii.
Yeah I realise that. From my personal experience though I can say it doesn't hurt too much to have an A7III and 1.8 lenses sitting doing nothing. [emoji16]

That’s right, it’s more of a utilisation vs value situation.
Going to stick with it and see how I get on. :)

You've been wanting to sell / switch a while now. If it's crossed your mind this many times over the past few month's then it's possibly time to get rid.

I know some think it's fun but I just don't get the kit merry go round of selling perfectly good kit for slightly different perfectly good kit over and over again.

Good luck to those who do. It's just not something I'm interested in if only because it takes time to set the kit up and get used to it and frankly I've got better things to do. Changing systems once a decade is bad enough.

A question , Am i right in thinking the only way with a sony lens to get to 400 f4 is with the 70/200 f2.8 + 1.4 tc then use the crop mode on the a7r4 to give 420mm .
Rob.

Not the only way with a Sony lens, if you need 400mm at f/4 you could just buy the 400 f/2.8 and use it at f/4

There are rumours of a 300mm f2.8 coming this year. Use that with 1.4x

The A7III has just dropped too £1557 on Amazon plus there is £150 cash back. . A7IV incoming?

That's a good price, grey could cost more.

Actually just found grey at £1,389.00.

Not Sony but the competition...

Thom Hogan on Canon...

https://www.sansmirror.com/newsviews/2020-mirrorless-camera/really-canon.html

An interesting bit...

"I have this sneaking suspicion that their strategy is this:
  • DSLRs go away, replaced by RF mirrorless
  • M goes away, replaced by a future RF APS-C
  • Cinema switches mounts to RF soon (or PL if you want that)
Let's tally up what camera bodies Canon is current selling (from the CanonUSA Web site):
  • 21 DSLRs — EF mount
  • 3 RF mirrorless full frame — RF mount
  • 8 M mirrorless crop sensor — M mount
  • 6 Cinema cameras (some with multiple variations) — EF or PL mount
Hmm. 27 of the cameras Canon wants to sell you today use EF lenses, while only 3 use RF lenses. Yet only RF development is continuing? See the problem?"

Jeez the Canon universe is a (relative) mess and surprising to read that the APS-C Canon M system may be short lived. I bet a lot of people in the industry are cursing Sony and mirrorless in general but IMO it had to happen and maybe the upheavals in the camera world are only just beginning.

They have been that price for a while.

I got more than that as a trade in with WEX only a few weeks ago.

I've had one in my basket a number of times. The closest I got to buying was when Currys had them at a good price which would be great for me as there's a Currys within walking distance but they ran out of stock and came back in at a higher price and I didn't bother.

You can get a very lightly-used A7Riii with a better evf for that amount ...

Not everyone wants a hi-res camera even if it has a better evf and the A7III a.f. is better also the one on amazon and is brand new with U.K manufacturers warranty.

Hi Ant thank you I will let him know as he was told a NEX would lead to cropped images ?its just going to bea stop gap so he can mount his existing Nikon F mount lenses and use manual focus :) thanks for your reply (y)

Af isn’t a priority but I wasn’t aware of adapters that would AF
I’m looking for recommendations on adapter that perhaps forum members use or have used for him to look at purchasing.
Thanks for the advice though (y)

For a manual adapter Metabones is usually decent quality, used for £30 - £40. For a bit more, Novoflex is the bee's knees. He'll be able to use focus peaking (if he can stand the 'buzzy' look), and focus mag (better), and A & M mode with stop-down metering ...
