The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

'The Nikon D780 is the first new DSLR of 2020... and it's pretty groundbreaking'

Doesn't really work as a headline in 2020 does it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Somehow most people I know don't seem as excited as some online reviewers are.

Are you still trying to sell the 24-105 them. Didn’t they have something like 5 of these the other day. I guess the 20% discount is helping them shift lenses.
This is a new one in excellent condition. The original 7 mint ones are long gone.

Can I ask A7R users about file size ?

Does LR need a lot of processing power to work with the size of the files ? I have a 2019 27" iMac so am presuming it will be fine - are they noticably slower to work with than 24mp FF images ?

thanks

Why dont you download some RAWS from Dpreview and compare?

You can see the specs of my 2015 iMac in sales. It works just fine with A7RIV files.

I've asked this before but has anyone got round to buying/using the Samyang 18mm F2.8 ? I'd like a cheap wide angle to go with the cheapy kit lens and it seems ideal - hoping its more like the 35mm f2.8 which is rather good unlike the 24mm f2.8 (not that the 24 is bad)

canon have given a statement saying they'll only make RF lenses unless they see a particular demand for EF lenses.

I didn’t think about it.... lol.

Has anybody got or had hands on with the Sony 70-350mm G? Is it any good, Sharp ? Soft in Corners ? I’m thinking about this and the 18-135mm. Just can’t decide.

I posted a video review link in previous page for this lens. Seems to be a very sharp lens.
The 18-135mm not so much but probably performs as well as any other 18-135mm kit lens.

Speaking of prices, the new Nikon 120-300 2.8 F mount is £9.5k!!!!!
That’s the part I don’t get with Nikon. Why research and develop a fast F mount telephoto zoom that’s £9.5k? If that was a mirrorless mount they would be onto a winner because no one else has one. It’s not like sigma had already done this lens several years back

I can understand still developing DSLRs but not F mount lenses. Canon seem to be on the right track stopping EF Mount lens development and manufacturing to concentrate on mirrorless lenses.

If Nikon got their PF lens technology into some telephoto mirrorless lenses they would have a big advantage that may attract mirrorless wildlife photographers.

I can only assume there's a market for it, the Japanese market is different to ours so maybe they've been wanting it.

Their lens choices of late are just bizarre. That and the 50mm 0.95 Z mount before a 70-200 2.8.
I think it was a case of showing the potential/uniqueness of the new mount, I guess some folk go for that ;)
