The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Oh man Sony's suck, the menu nobody ever needs after initial setup and the sub par handling, which annoys people who have never used the camera, may as well have a DVD player ( @woof woof) in the hands. That cluttered display you can change by pressing a simple button, those really poor fw updates. That AF that nails pretty much every shot in any conditions, no black out, 20fps, fantastic battery life, dual cards, completely silent shooting, files that can push and pull to the limits in Lightroom without any issues, eye AF that just does what it's supposed to with humans and pets, huge 1st party and 3rd party lens and accessory support. That crappy 1/32000 and 500k MS shutter life.

Can totally understand why people are getting hung up. Sorry, just seeing some BS posts and thought we could add some balance in the Sony thread because if it's posted elsewhere somebody might become upset.
I've just bought an A7ii and by all accounts its pish compared to the newer models.
Guess what?
I love it!!!
Crap menu ?
Not an issue for me...
Crap autofocus?
Not an issue for me....
Crap battery life?
Not an issue for me ....

Does that mean I'm a fanboy???
:-)

So you're ranting about what someone said in another thread? Seemed very random :D

Not ranting at all, maybe that's the way you're reading the post. Just an observation, people see minor problems with (any) camera as a huge issue and often overlook the many positives. ;)

Yes :) glad to hear you're enjoying your new camera, the mk2 are really going for silly money these days and for slightly more cash it's worth it over the mk1. The price difference used to be much larger. Can't believe we can get FF milc for such little money.

Your posts in the Nikon thread, you seem a little disappointed by their finances and AF? You might not be, hopefully I didn't read your posts incorrectly.

Well finances not too bothered about that as it be ages till anything happens if it does.. AF well ok it quick but it not as quick as the sony or stick to the subject as good. But everything else about the nikon is just lovely the handing of it and the like the files it produce not had to do much processing to the images at all

But then again it could be the camera or the lens... So the A9 with a 24-70 2.8 gm lens could produce as good or better images ive been getting on my nikon

Definitely a rant when there's no context

I don't know why people get so defensive/butt hurt over gear honestly. Not you, but in general. It's ... gear. Personally, I know I could get by with an old D90 and a kit lens. I don't because I can have better, but I don't care what make or model I use or if one system is better at things I don't need or want. But then I'm a simple single shot stills shooter, a film camera would probably do for me ... but that's like, work :D

There's at least 2 of us still on the original A7 :p

Don't be, like I said, Nikon finances have been questioned many times over the years, you'll have switched or owned all the gear before they go bust.

The d700 had nice files, so did the d750, d800 for me not so much. Nikon output is nice, early Sony ff was poor imo (skin mostly otherwise okay) but since the a7rii it gets far more accurate year on year and some like that and some don't, I like accuracy/flat as it's a good base for me to work from in post.

Not out of context, I just thought it's better to keep it here because people bitch when it's posted in response elsewhere.

Neither do I, I see them post it elsewhere even though they've never used the gear. Were pretty much all gear heads in equipment :D

I've owned roughly 47 cameras in 8 years from all makes and enjoyed them all in their own way, does that make me a fanboy?

Thank f*** I am not the only one think you had more than me then lol

By far the most photos in my catalogues, xe1, xt1, d700, d750, a7iii... and hopefully a9. Didn't think I'd own a cam that I'd have more keepers from than the d700 then the d750 beat that and then the a7iii beat that.

Ha, that's how many a7r2's I've had.

To you, 5k.

My gem, the 35 art and the some may say not so great but I love it and think it's a bargain 85 1.8 fe. Tbh, I'd only ever need the art though.

I find I use the apsc crop fairly often to get 50 and 135 ish. It's a useful feature.

Sent a message to Peak Design asking about colours earlier. Got this back in reply along with a gif of a guy walking with his head down.

Is the EVF better on the A9 than the A7iii

Bet it nice to see the images all he time than a blackout that handy for following subjects

Time to sell your Nikon and get a Sony A9 chap :D

Better get yours out of the cabinet and dusted off and put up in classified's for me

I have one major problem with Sony, now that I have 6 bodies and every lens I wanted I have nothing at all on my want list.

Not one thing. :(

I had a quick look at Ffordes and Amazon earlier and I can't think of anything I want for Xmas. Not a thing.

I did get a cheap watch in the post today, an automatic and not a battery or electronic component in sight and less than £18 so it looks like Mrs WW will have a cheap Xmas :D

Just sold my Nikon fit Sigma 12-24 today, so an ultra-wide would be nice. Sorry Nandy, but £700 for your Laowa is a bit too much for a lens that will be used <5% of the time.

Anyone know if the Canon mount version of the 12-24 will work with the MC-11?

You tell me, I never use that word though I see a lot of potential in it

PMSL you're kidding right, I know you've owned at least all the a7rii cameras in the UK. It's disgusting, your paws have touched every one of them, @Cagey75 Is going to touch yours :p

It's always possible :D I still do fancy that camera, the local sellers need to just calm down imagining it's still worth what they paid for it. I'll know if I ever get one Jonathan has owned, it'll still reek of Joop I imagine ... :P

The rumor site says that the Tamron 24 and 35mm f2.8's are in stock in the USA so I suppose we'll soon see lots of reviews.

Haha, you're not wrong there. Armani all the way for me, with the odd splash of Gucci .. A friend of mine used to use Joop all the time - me telling him it smelled like urinal cakes at best didn't sway him :D Glad you took that one on the chin, just messin' ;)

Tripods are not my thing, have had some nice ones over the years and they ended up as over-sized ornaments. If and when I buy an A7RII it'll be for a lot less than that. I don't see sense in buying new anymore, they lose value soon as you click the shutter
