The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

If the numbers in this vid are anywhere near right I do wonder how Nikon and even Canon can stay in the mirrorless market...

I suppose Japanese stubbornness may keep them and others in the camera gear business but from a financial point of view it possibly doesn't make a lot of sense at least in the short to medium term. I'd imagine that the mirrorless side of things at a few if not all companies will haemorrhage money.

Tony: (smarmy voice) Let's see if he has any sources this time.
Chelsea: We do! We have so many charts and graphs!

Charts and graphs aren't sources...

You'd be mad to take all this as Gospel and this is why I said if these numbers are anywhere near right... and they do rely heavily on Amazon and although many people buying what is in reality quite top end gear will possibly be buying from a photography specialist rather than from Amazon as they say this is the biggest seller in the USA and the A7III is well up there in the Amazon rankings plus they mention the Japanese sales figures too.

I don't think anyone should take this as written in stone but if this is anywhere near what's going on in the market I'd imagine that the board rooms will be gloomy places.

Seems a bit quiet here so maybe peeps can post a picture or two...

A7 and 35mm f2.8 again.

A nice quiet spot by the stream to rest for a minute...

It's been bright and sunny for weeks, my 150-600mm arrives and it's grey and raining for the foreseeable........:mad::mad:

Yeah I agree they might as well have used a crystal ball to make their predictions.

They don't really seem to have accounted for the many that will switch either. Dslr's still sell quite well because the average Joe still doesn't know what they are buying. They walk into a shop see a dslr probably with the idea of spending less than £500 or so and end up going home with whatever the latest Canon or Nikon entry level option is. It is only later on if they stick with it and they start to learn more and consider other options like Sony in a lot of cases.

My wee brother is a great example of this. At the end of last year he told me he was looking to buy a new camera for a holiday and asked what I would recommend and at the time I suggested the A6000 and sent him a few links to places where he could buy it grey at very reasonable money. I also suggested a couple of other cameras as well and told him to go into a local shop and have a play with them. He went into Jessops and came home with a Canon 80D. Why? Well when he went into Jessops the sales guy also suggested the A6000 to him as a good fit but my brother thought that a dslr would make him look more pro :ROFLMAO: so he bought that instead.

He has now had it for about 6 months or so, gotten a little more interested in photography, learnt a little bit and will likely be buying an A6400 within the next few days after having had a play with mine. :ROFLMAO:

Very few bugs around up here (Edinburgh) as it's cold and wet but the A7Rii and 90mm is looking a very promising combination - this thing was pretty small, maybe 5/6mm and it's come out well :)

Nice, I'm constantly impressed by the 90mm Macro, I'm sure I'll add it to the collection sometime soon.

It’s surprising how many people feel the pro look is what they really need from a camera.

Never mind. At least Arsenal made it to the final and TBH I don't know how they didn't score more, it could and should have been 4-3 with a few minutes to go.

As a Boro fan I'd love to see my team beaten 4-1 in a European final :D

Boro would have showed more heart then this lot. 2nd half they just packed there bags ready for the summer holiday

This may be a random question but here goes:

I own a Sony a7ii with a few lenses- have ordered ( arriving today) :) a Sony 70-200mm f4 G OSS lens - my question is this:

Will I be able to use a Sony x2 Teleconverter on this body lens combo and retain all the functions, such as auto focus etc etc with this lens being the f4 ?

Thanks in advance

Les

Nope. Only the F2.8 version of that lens and 100-400 works on the TC

The teleconverter only works with f/2.8 version & the 100-400.

How do you rate the your 100-400 against your 150-600?

Different lens entirely - love the 150-600mm and use it a lot on my Sony a77 Mk2.

I bought the 100-400 to use on my new Sony a7iii - not as much reach as the 150-600 ( obviously) but the 100-400 in my opinion out performs the 150-600 in sharpness and IQ also great for macro on bugs etc
