The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I had previously heard canon operated a different ways regarding zoom. I’ve only been using native Sony lenses and don’t think I’ve noticed much difference except the lens release button is on the shutter side which makes changing lenses weird. I’m sure I will get used to it.

Here's a Nikon lens and then a Canon one. Notice the aperture ring, from the left hand side the numbers are f16 to f2.8 on the Nikon and f1.8 to f16 on the Canon. Also the distance scale, from the left hand side it's infinity to near on the Nikon and near to infinity on the Canon. It just takes getting use to :D

Then you had the push pull zoom lenses. Which i liked as you could zoom and focus at the same time.

There you go...

It may be compact for a 24mm f1.4 of that quality. I think size wise it's probably getting towards the limit of what I'd accept for anything other than once in a while use.

In the flesh on the newer bodies it does look diddy.

He's both Nikon and Fuji but whores Fuji way more these days. I don't know where the hell he gets the money but he has every Fuji and Nikon camera ever made, inc the newer GFX plus all the lenses to boot. I don't think youtube is that great for money, maybe some kind of inheritance who knows!? He's actually a very intelligent guy, just a bit of a tw@t on the side. The only time I ever look at his vids is when he's showcasing a vintage lens, he has great knowledge on that front. Trouble is, when he does a review on one the prices immediately go up on ebay

Interesting.... I can put up with t***s as long as they have something useful to contribute. I may give him another go for vintage lenses.

Anyone having issue uploading clear images to fb from lightroom cc mine seem too compress even thou uploading max available

Rumor is that the A7sIII will be a revolutionary camera...

https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5...announcement-and-some-revolutionary-features/

"On April 7 Sony will have a product launch event at the NABshow. Reliable sources confirmed that we should get new camcorder info only. No new E-mount camera is expected to be announced on that day.

Those reliable sources also confirmed once more that the Sony A7sIII announcement is scheduled for this fall and that this will be a revolutionary camera and not a simple evolution of the current A7sII. We have no specs yet but we have been told the sensor is the key of the revolution. My guess is that this will be the first system camera using a global shutter sensor."

If true, that'll be nice :D

What macro lens people got pls. I normally prefer internal barrel

With which lens?
24-70 f4 at 70mm usually, but i have used it with the 35 f2.8 as well with only the small extension. Use both and even the 70mm your nearly touching the glass on the subject.

Very tempted as you prob know we use M focus for macro so AF speed not a issue. Any samples pls?

I don't think this was with both extensions either. For £20 its well worth having, handy to keep in your bag when you don't want to carry around the macro lens but want to take a macro.

How do people feel about thr price?

It might not tempt people looking at the f1.4 gm but maybe less demanding people and those looking at the Sony f1.8 could be tempted. I might have been because of the f1.8's swirly bokeh but actually now I've sort of grown to like it :D

If I didn't already have the Sony f/1.8 I'd be seriously looking at it, the first review does make it seem a very good piece of glass. Though I'd probably end up going with the Sigma Art (£759 grey) if I was moving to f/1.4.

*edit* but it's good to see Samyang seem to be improving with each release since they moved their efforts towards AF lenses.

Depends on the AF. If it's anywhere as good as the GM in terms is AF let alone the FE85/1.8 I'd give it a try.

How much is it? I'm very keen on this lens anyway

The only hiccup is that E-Photozine reviews are almost always positive, even when you know the lens they're testing is a hunk of junk. I like the idea of the Sammy, the resolution looks fantastic and the sample pics look nice, but there's the old issue of how good the AF is and I've a feeling that being priced the same as Sony's f1.8 it will struggle. OTOH if there ARE good offers then it will likely get some traction - I like the idea of an 85 sharp enough to use wide open.

There's no excuse for modern lenses to not be sharp wide open imo.

I only had a minute to skim that review and I didn't see anything about focus performance but for me that would be key as the Sony f1.8 is imo excellent in that respect.
