I'd say that any new thing needs time before an informed judgement can be made unless there's some obvious issue such as a serious limitation or missing feature or ability. Looking at some of the repeated criticisms of the Sony A7x series including the menu, the colours and the ergonomics maybe these things are things that need time to grow on you too.

The ergonomics never really grow on you though, it doesn't fit comfortably into your hand it just has the benefit of being small and the buttons are well placed (I think the R has the opposite problem) but in truth I could care less, I only use short lenses so they sit pretty well.

And before I get accused yet again of being a Sony fanboy (in a Sony thread) by Swiss Tony or some other forum semi troll I'll add that I agree with the comment on LL and the reason I'm bringing Sony into it is I've never really understood some of the criticisms as IMO they're often issues which could will melt away over a fairly short familiarisation period, same for other brands and models too I'm sure.

It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, it's best not to bring other brands into it as if at this point they're still trotting out nonsense about colour science they probably don't care about the actual differences.

I think you have to bring other brands into things otherwise you can lose perspective. I don't want to be tied to Sony or anything else so gotta keep at least a passing interest in everything that's going on.

Dale photographic used to sell a lot of grey import stuff although their website says they don't any more. This could be grey as well. Might as well order from Panamoz with the 3 year warranty for £1670.00

I was under the impression this is UK official

Just out of curiosity, any wedding guys use 128gb cards?

I’ve got all 64gb, but have thought about 128gb in the backup slot. Also thinking 128 might be good if I ever get an R version or try video more?

I still have my old 32gn Sandisk ones that seem to be working perfectly - only 95mbs but not really seen any issues.

Was looking for the Samyang 24mm in black friday but E-Infinity have it at £209 which will be hard to match!

Seems a good price. What's the verdict on the lens? Reviews seem to suggest its good value for money, perhaps not the best lens though

It's not one that I've looked at particularly, but reports suggest that it now performs very well on the latest firmware and that it is pretty sharp. It's Achilles heel is a noisyish AF motor, particularly in video use. I don't do video, so if I was in the market for a cheap, occasional use lens at this FL, I would probably take the plunge at that price.

I was tempted, but have decided against it. Good price, but a lot of reviews point out poor autofocus in low light, which would be the main situation I'd be using it

What happens to threads once they drop off the first page of the for sale page??

I've got the Sony FE 50mm F/1.8 from this forum a week or so ago.

Tested on Sony A7 III (ver 2.0) and lens ver 3.0

Do not expect very very fast focus.
It focuses. even in low light. Almost no hunting.
And almost no noise.
As sharpness and overall rendering - it is more than good, especially stopped down (for example at F/2.8)
I will not rely on this lens for video (the focus is still ok, but not fast.)

P.S. Tested the lens on Sony A7R II as well, (the following example below) - the focus was good (not very fast)

Overall I would recommend this lens - for this price (especially £144 for a brand new UK store)
I think I posted a few examples, but here is another one:

- My Garden - by Kalin Kalpachev, on Flickr

P.S. there are more Sony deals today only on Amazon
Check it out

Thinking of buying something that's no longer visible? If so, I think they get archived. If you can see it in the archived folder maybe you can pm the seller and see if it's still available and if so will they relist it.

If it's your ad and you want to relist it... You may be able to unarchive it but I don't know how so all I've done in the past is open a new for sale thread and copy and past the old stuff into it.

Just wanted to update a thread which is having Royal Mail issues!

Peak design slide lite (ash colour) for £44. Anyone recommend this for A7 series and smallish lens like a Sony 85mm f1.8?

I mentioned a couple of days ago about how quick Sony cash back is. :D

Made 2 claims on Wednesday morning and have just received both payments into my account.
Two days that is excellent, have never seen that sort of speed with sending cash back payments before and have done quite a few in the last year or so. :)

Would not recommend if you are using for long periods of time better of with the normal slide in terms of comfort. I use both types the lite is okay when only using the camera for short periods of time.

Appreciate the quick reply. Cheers. :)

I have a BR sport that I don't use very often but had it on for a couple of hours on Tuesday night and felt it was clunky and the hardware (with Joby safety thingy attached) kept rubbing on the camera body and I'm worried about scratching. As I say, it's only for occasional use. Do you have any fears about the base plate anchor thing working its way loose?

No never been an issue, only negative I have found is that it's sore to use for extended periods of time. Then again now I have hit 40 it's a struggle to carry most things around for extended periods of time. :D

Hmmm... I'm about to hit 60! But at the minute my heaviest lens is the 85mm. Might just leave it and use the BR. I've only used it twice in a year, so probably not worth investing in a new strap for such minimal usage. Cheers for your input. (y)

Also £44 is not a great deal, I got the Charcoal version for £36 around 3 weeks ago from Amazon.

Very nice :) I do like the little 35mm Samyang

Yep, unfortunately, 30 seconds later I was changing lenses and dropped it (minus caps) into the sand! It now rattles! Emailed for a couple of quotes to clean it and got one back for £95...
