The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Could be just the processing as it looks very contrasty.

I do like it though.

I printed this yesterday to fill an A4 and the finished print looks lovely but the first print didn't and when I checked the settings they'd changed. Why do settings change all by themselves? I suppose there's been an update and that's why. So, that cost me a sheet of photo paper and the ink, I suppose about £1-£2, and reminded me that I should never take settings for granted and should always check them before printing.

A7 and Nikon 50mm f2.

I like this but Mrw WW isn't so sure and say "It looks like a ghost picture." Oh well.

I think the issue you have there is that you haven’t really got the elements that make a strong mono image imo. Her white coat blends into the sky. With looking out of the frame I’m not sure what you’re trying to convey? Anyway, if you like it then that’s ok and trumps my comments, just my tu’pence.

Ps. I’m a b****r for not liking trees growing out of bodies too. Spent too long last night tidying one up I took at the weekend where I couldn’t line it up at the time. I’m always looking at backgrounds and distractions.

I thought there was something there when I took the picture but the light was poor, mostly just a white/grey/no sky dead light day but with the harsh glare you can get when the sun is low in the sky. The color picture is as a result disappointing for me as I have a gazillion pictures of my local area taken on days like that. In mono I think it's got a bit more to it, but not too much contrast which I think would change the dreamy tone and I like it as does everyone here apart from Mrs WW who seems to think it's creepy. So there! :D

She's looking at some little crab apples but if you don't know that you might wonder what's happening and I like that. The tree sticking out is there but I don't think it's too much of a problem and as a part of the near distance with the fences it adds to a feeling of overgrown enclosure with unkept nature and scruffy rundown urban encroaching on each other, which is what I was going for. It'll be framed and I like it but as a colour picture it's miserable unless you're from somewhere nearer the equator and have never seen northern light like this before.

So, one quick question ( I know I am not the only one with this problem and I know it has been mentioned in the topic, but not sure where exactly)

I've got the A7 III and it is charging now. Via the USB cable. Ugly sign to watch it (the fact that there was not a proper charger in the box)

- Can you please recommend me a stable, a good external charger for the FZ100 (A7 III battery), please ? Not the Sony BC-QZ1 one (£83 for a charged for a god's sake....)
- Also a good third party battery ? I hear about RAVpower FZ100 replacement, but not available at the moment from amazon.co.uk and not present at ebay.co.uk
And before starting to attack me why I am not going to buy a genuine battery - well, I need the second battery just for a backup.

Thank you in advance.

I used this brand on my D750:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CZCV...olid=2ITXN2NC66BGI&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Be aware though, that some third party batteries throw up error messages.

I'd be concerned if she was my daughter, having said that i guess its the norm thesedays

The norm is actually the opposite, she is probably within the BMI, its just the make up on the face making her thinner than she looks.

Besides, the industry is pushing really hard these days with Plus Size models.

Yes, I read today a lot of the battery warning and I guess I can live with it, as I will use the extra battery for backup only on location. I am even considering running the camera with a battery pack (never tried it, but it is an option)

I use these: https://amzn.to/2A6qSXb

Get a battery warning, but work fine

The link you posted open for some reason the FW-50 batteries (the for the older sony cameras)

Agree. We are a nation of chubsters. I think the high contrast edit is giving her a little bit of a skeletal look.

I know at the time I didn’t feel the need to buy her a Big Mac or protein shake.

Search powerextra on amazon and they have same brand but for FZ100.

I was there too, nothing wrong with her

yes looking closer the lighting makeup does give that look

Fancied something wider so a Samyang 24mm is on its way. :) Interested to see what the little thing can do.

Be interested to hear what you think of it - it’s had mixed reviews but for the size and price it’s got to be worth a go ! I’ve got the 35mm and it’s excellent

I got it due to its size and weight, so when I swap out the 28/2 for a 35/1.4 I still have a low weight option and a wider lens if needed

For you Woof, there's something there that engages and envokes a memory, which is fine. I like the general composition, but I personally don't think a mono conversion adds to it. For me, I love mono done well. And by that I mean true blacks and highlight, almost always high contrast. I generally select images on this basis. Did a family shoot over the weekend, as the granddaughter wanted some memories of her grandmother, who is suffering dementia. The colour in the autumn trumps everything in my book and so made the most of that, however, this shot had to have a mono conversion in my book. She's only had a handful of images so far, but this one brought a tear to her eye, and that's without seeing some I have of her grandmother = job done :) Happened to be one of those random moments I caught as it happened.

Haven’t seen a colour pop for a long time. Works with this, but... works without.

Yeah haha, I probably wouldn't have bothered without the smiley face on the emoticon ball showing

If you are interested I have an original Sony charger that I'm thinking of selling, I know have two and don't need it anymore.

Yes, and I do that sometimes too but high contrast wasn't the look I was going for there. My mono has more contrast than the colour version but I didn't want to go overboard and wanted a rather softer and older picture look than a high contrast look.

I've been hovering over the buy button on the A7iii for a few days now but holding out for Friday to see if the price drops anymore! Will be with the 28-70mm for a while I think until I can afford to get some more lenses for it!!

I have a 1 year Sony Warranty Card - add it to the A73 or 70-200??
