The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

So today out of 200 images only 1 was out of focus!

Was back to the arena from hell, with the light from the devil - but they are re-doing the lights soon so it will be much brighter and consistent throughout the arena.

Anyway, more images to bore you with...

That with the A7iii what settings did you decided

There was a time when people would deliberately have over exposed areas to show off the lovely paper. Believe it or not.

A couple of questions regarding the sony's, inparticular the A7iii. Can you use 3rd party batteries with it and also do you have to use an XQD card or can you use two SDxc cards?

3rd party batteries aren’t recommended due to recent firmware update although some work fine.

You need to use sd cards there is no XQD card slot. If you need fast 300mbs cards Sandisk and Sony both make cards at that speed. For photography the normal 95mbs Sandisk cards work well enough.

Great stuff thank you, I should be ok on that side of things then! I hear the battery life on the A7iii is actually pretty decent anyway too which is good.

It is, I can pretty much get through a wedding to just after the speeches before changing the battery. If you don't use the evf much you could easily get longer than that.

I've just picked up a Tamron 28-75 from @nandbytes and am happy to report that the AF performance on my A7 mk1 is as good as the 55/1.8 (at least in the current low light anyway). I'm going to give it a proper test in better light tomorrow but early impressions are very good.

Fancied something wider so a Samyang 24mm is on its way. :) Interested to see what the little thing can do.

I've thought about this one myself lately. My primes are 40mm & 85mm with a Yashica 28/2.8 on occasion. Even the Samyang 24mm will give me a little wider, a lot lighter & better IQ I'd imagine. I like using the manual 28mm but it's heavier & about the same size as the FE28-70!

To be fair it looks good, didn’t think it through though as I have the Sony 28/2 as well...

Yeah, I have read through a few reviews of it & sample images just in case..... I just think it might be too close to 28mm in actual use....

I'm certainly getting the CV40/1.2 I think. Maybe the Loxia21 would be a nice addition. 21mm, 40mm & 85mm......?? If I buy the two though, I'm certainly sticking with the A7 :p:D

I’ll be swapping the 28 for a 35 so the 24 does make sense longer term. My A7 was a lovely little camera.

I printed this yesterday to fill an A4 and the finished print looks lovely but the first print didn't and when I checked the settings they'd changed. Why do settings change all by themselves? I suppose there's been an update and that's why. So, that cost me a sheet of photo paper and the ink, I suppose about £1-£2, and reminded me that I should never take settings for granted and should always check them before printing.

A7 and Nikon 50mm f2.

I like this but Mrw WW isn't so sure and say "It looks like a ghost picture." Oh well.
