The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Lovely. Camera thoughts?

I do like it, image quality is a given.
Overall I'm happy with the handling, not as good as the Fuj X-H1 but personally don't think anything is.
thought I would miss the Fuji colours a lot more than I am but mostly I like the colours it produces especially the greens in the landscapes and hopefully when I get more use to pp the files that will get better. Saying that do miss some of the Fuji film sims especially the acros b&w's
Nice to have a decent battery life when using live view.
Find the manual focusing to be a joy, haven't really tested the af yet so can't comment on that.
Major gripe is the colour of the af point I'm finding it really hard to notice where it is espically at sunrise/sunset, is there any way to change the colour?
Not a camera thought but I am impressed with the Sony 24-105.

A7000 rumor is the best rumor ever....

All I can say is..... This is a whole new camera..... Shhhh dont tell anyone.

:ROFLMAO:

Under a headline "fictive rendering" of what basically looks like an A6500 with a front control dial, longer grip and a top wheel...so nothing like a "whole new camera" so a bit of a wasted Photoshop effort!

It's a bit of fun not the 10 commandments.

Just wait for the real thing to appear... which shouldn't be too long, probably less time than Moses spent wondered in the desert.

Sorry Alan, I wasn't having a dig at you. Just thought it was a funny conflict of details in the SAR post :0)

Sorry if I gave the impression of being digged :D Far from it hence my ref to it not being the ten commandments. I should have added a :D soz that I didn't.

Not heard of all of them. Have they posted evedince of their findings? 1 case of premature shutter failure says nothing. The af pixel lines were posted a while back by dpreview in certain harsh back light but I haven't heard of anyone here or experienced it myself and I shoot backlight.
I just read another thread today of a card slot breaking lol. Then a guy In the comments said his broke after 3 months. Makes me bloody paranoid.

Stop reading or take it back.
[emoji1] It's bloody Facebook. There are lots of great posts on there. Lovely shots taken with the A7iii. Some good inspiration. However, the odd post like that pops up. Just makes me nervous when I spent so much money on it.

In all fairness I do feel the camera is more delicate than my old d5200 lol

Ive used a lot of cameras and while it's not a d700 it's as well built as anything FF at a similar price point. Don't bother looking at Nikon's track record if you're nervous.... Anyway, you have warranty.

Maybe you feel it's more delicate because you paid more and are worried more about hurting it.

Take the amount of owners and then the amount of issues. Probably such a small percentage!

The Sony’s are made of butter. A9 seems to be the worst for failure based on what I see on Facebook in the wedding photographer groups. That could be to do with how many are using them. To be fair though apart from higher end Canon’s and the proper pro single digit Nikon bodies they are all pretty crap.

You seem very concerned about yours, you should probably just stick it back in the box or sell it. Did you not get any warranty when you bought it? Do you have equipment insurance or maybe your house insurance will cover it?

Nah I'm not selling it, I love it. It's just annoying when you buy something then start seeing stuff like that. As someone else said, the percentage of people with issues will be low compared to how many have been sold.

Type in any device followed by problems into google and see the results. ;)

Possibly, not to add more worry but Sony are notoriously bad to deal with if you have any issues in terms of timescales. Like with all electronics you pay your money and you take your chance and it all comes down to luck.

For example if you read a lot of the Nikon threads on here you will find lots of people complaining about level of service where as I have found them great to deal with in terms of issues.

I think @jonneymendoza and @Riz_Guru have had positive experiences and very fast turnaround. Sony has upped their game big time.... not so long ago they didnt even have pro support.

I've only delt with Sony once and that was a broken phone screen. I paid them to fix it and it came back in a few weeks.

Sony's customer service in my experience has been terribad. But if you deal with them through a good dealer like LCE or Wex, you'll be just fine. They seem to be able to deal with them lot better than individuals (speaking from personal experience)

That's how most warranty claims would be dealt with anyway, retailer is first contact. Grey could be an issue.

Had great experience with Sony TV but equally bad when it came to getting lenses fixed.
So I don't think the same department deals with various electronics Sony sells.

Fair enough. Let's redirect this conversation...

Aren't Sony cameras amazing? I've had mine just over a week and it's the best [emoji1]

Of course that's what makes it bearable.

But I'd still not buy lenses like the 400GM which if needs fixing post-warranty period you don't really want it to be a pain. TBH that applies for most GM lenses that are so expensive you wouldn't really bin it and buy a new one!
