The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

E-INFINITY had it for £629 and Bristol cameras were giving a free premium Hoya filter worth like £35. Those are the best deals I could find for 35mm ART

Be mad to buy from Einfin with 1yr seller RTB warranty when all UK retailers will offer 3 yr Sigma UK warranty for only £20 more. Does BC actually ever have stock of anything?

That's why this large backpack don't make sense to me, any bag of this kind would be for long trips and unpredictable conditions would come hand in hand so I rather get a bag that is designed more like stuff you see in the Army than Prada.

I have:-

Pelican 1510
Thinktank Airport international v2
Wotancraft Ryker messenger bag
Crumpler Base Park backback

Don’t need any more bags lol

Is there a general lens shortage, seeing a few common ones out of stock in most places?

I would guess instead of releasing 1 lens, they are releasing like 5 at the same time and if they can normally keep up with demands of a new lens release on 1 focal length, they are now spreading their manufacturing by 5 so the numbers coming out will be much lower. Add together the demand Sony body is so hot right now with the A73, the Sigma Art becomes best bang for buck for anyone who wants to replace their old Canon or Nikon set of lenses.

The Sigmas have been consistently in and out of stock since they were first released. Especially the 35 & 50, 85 not so much. I think the 24 will probably also be in high demand.

Only seem to take family shots these days

This is fun, same a73, same settings. One is Sony Zeiss 35/1.4, one is Canon 35L/1.4 mk2.

When you say same settings was WB fixed?

Tommy it works better on the Sony than it does on the Nikon lol. No focus tuning etc lol

It does, was my fav lens on my D750 but its even better on the Sony a7iii. The sigma 50 ART is also VERY good, actually its faster than the 35.

Some call me Gandalf . Thanks for the compliment on the shot. Hows the M100 going? Was so tempted.
Loving it thanks Gandalf,:pnot sure if you would like it though, touch screen is lovely.this is the contented I’ve been .:canon:

I love the A5100 (longest we've kept a camera!) its a joy to use, no viewfinder, not a lot of custom buttons, touch the screen it focuses and shoots immediately, no thinking... job done. Id imagine the M100 is the same.

Auto WB, it was just a fun experiment as I was talking to a guest who had a GH5 about my Sony as was looking at my gear.
Ahh makes sense then, I was surprised that one lens could look so much warmer so probably different WB.

Yeah I found that too pal. The 50 was quicker. That said I havent had a single issue with the 35

My main gripe with the A7III is the settings changing as they bounce about at my side, had white balance bracketing on for about half an hour at a wedding yesterday ffs

Yes but not many buttons but I don’t miss them.i tap say the aperture then use the wheel to change or tap iso and use wheel ,infact the wheel acts as the control of a lot of the usual stuff so tap use wheel..I’ve saved a lot of money since losing my gas all because of this little guy

Lol I keep finding that problem too, sometimes I lost burst model into single shot and one time into bracketing...sometimes live preview goes off. I never had this problem with my Canon where settings get knocked and changed so easily.

Has anyone got or tried the Tokina Firin 20mm F2.0 A/F lens FE mount? just after opinions of it in use...

Yeah its been a real pain in the backside. I'm surprised more haven't had the problem.

Just always checking my settings to make sure something isn't dialled in wrong

You should know by now that lenses can change an images colour quite dramatically.
I knew they influenced colour but wasn’t aware one could look that much warmer on the same body no, you live and learn ;)

It’s because those settings is on the dial and Canon dials don’t do anything. Plus you can lock out the rear buttons too on the Canon.

Problem is I can’t really switch off the dial settings as there’s not enough buttons for short cuts.
