The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I think they post some good articles on that site but they do seem obsessed with painfully thin women.

A bit late maybe but here's an A9 review at Fstoppers...

https://fstoppers.com/gear/mirrorless-camera-rivals-pro-dslrs-fstoppers-reviews-sony-a9-247948

On the price they say...

"The camera itself is about $1,300 cheaper than a Canon 1D X II and $2,300 less than the Nikon D5. Whether they are on the same level or not is hard to say. The a9 is a very high performing camera with tons of features that pros will enjoy. It’s unclear if the weather sealing and longevity of the Sony is on par with its competitors, only time and user feedback will tell."

I don't understand how anyone can review a Sony camera (or lens) without saying it's overpriced compared to a mid range DVD player. These Fstoppers guys must be Sony fanboys.

Woah, the D5 is only £650 more here.

I'm not in the market for these so I may have got something wrong but looking at Wex Photo and not bouncing around between grey and UK stock at different dealers...

Nikon D5 = £5,389
Sony A9 = £4,299

5389-4299=£1,090.

Just had a double check at Jessops and they're exactly the same price as Wex.

More than enough saving for a decent DVD player and probably a telly too.

Try using Eye-AF on the Nikon D5... or black out free 20 fps shooting.... I'd take the DVD player every time :D lol

I didn't see the discount code, just looked at the price in big red letters. So it's "only" £650 more today but when the offer ends on 31st May presumably the price goes back up until the next discount.

They all do offers, we don't live in the future and the difference today is £650.

For indoor i'm reaching for the 16-35mm over the 35mm 1.4 - as you can shoot slower shutter speeds anyway due to the wider FL - but even with the 1.4 primes I was shooting 1/100th to keep ISO <1000

A good portion of the photos were actually in colour, but as I picked them I found that I picked B+W :D

The girl in the band photos is 12! and she writes music too

50mm 1.4

Never knew Carl Froch can play guitar

Try putting your A9 in some water or using some native long primes.
Why would I want to do that for? Electronics and water don't go well together :D My FE 70-200mm f2.8 is long enough. :)

Canon and Nikon Pro level bodies would do far better in rain than Sony.

To test its weather sealing. Okay, just sit it on a puddle for us, its a pro action camera right, like the D5 and 1DX2?

But I don't shoot in wet conditions. No, its very different from DSLR pro action camera's.... its a GAME CHANGER :D lol

Many people might want to, if they weren't concerned their gear might let them down.
I don't care what "many" people might wan't, I bought the Sony A9 for me! ;)
Like I said previously, I'd take the DVD player :D

Now I only need the laowa 10-18mm and I'll be set :D

Hoping that turns out to be a good lens...

Speaking of 135mm lenses anyone used the Sony Zeiss 138mm f1.8 on a-mount? A really amazing lens... Would do nicely if there was one on e-mount :D
