The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Well... it seems to be cashback day for some stuff but checking a couple of the sites I often look at there seem to be quite a few Sony related things that aren't on offer.

Yes it starts from tomorrow :D What are you buying?
Is the Fuji X-H1 going?

https://campaign.odw.sony-europe.co... Cashback Terms and Conditions 02 05 2018.pdf

If you have purchased any of the following products (the “Products”) from an authorised Sony dealer located in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man between the 2nd of May 2018 and the 2nd of September 2018 (inclusive) then you will be entitled to apply for the following Cashback amounts and the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall apply.

Where is the list of authorised dealers?

I'd link it to you but it's not working on Sony website :banghead:
Sony seriously gets on my nerves sometimes.

Most popular retailers are on the list generally and if a retailer is providing the cashback then they normally advertise it on their website.

Mrs Woof Woof likes dandelions so here's a couple for her, A7 and Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 at f5 and f5.6, both 66.7% crops.

I'm hoping to get a few free hours next week and hopefully some sun too and if the two combine I'd love to go and see some bluebells in the local hills. I think the V 35mm f1.4 will do nicely especially as it focuses quite closely.

As I already have the Sony 24-70 and 70-200 lenses for work I now want to buy an all purpose lens for keeping my A7iii small and compact enough to carry it around more often with me. What lenses would you recommend, please?
I was thinking a 35mm but I'm open to any other suggestions.

35mm F2.8 is a good shout

24-70 f4

Has anyone bought or can recommend a mains charger for the A7III?
The ones that I've been looking at on Ebay all seem to be USB... and estimated delivery is as long as 2nd July!

Lots of USB chargers on Amazon, realise some people don`t like using Amazon but any reason why not USB.

I don't mind USB chargers, it means you can power it with anything and have 1 plug and can charge your phone and camera at the same time. Great when you are on holiday.

It would seem the ship dates on a bunch of Sigma lenses has now slipped to late May - mid June. Wayy.

Depends on your focal range but I’d always and have picked the Sony Zeiss FE 35mm f2.8 and 55mm f1.8 for my lighter/smaller setup. :)

That's the lens I'm initially looking at, seems like it would make for a great pocket set up?

Seems a bit too large for what I want...although it gives me the focal range convenience....ummm might have to think about this one :)

I will look into this one too, dx marks are good

Aye it is. I've got one for sale, if it helps.. :p

I might be in touch soon once I have made my mind :)

Thanks Riz, another 35 vote from you then

Another vote for the Sony 35mm f2.8 but these days I suppose the cheaper Samyang 35mm f2.8 has to be considered too.

Although I mostly use primes I do have to admit that the Sony 35mm f2.8 and 55mm f1.8 are both extremely good lenses.

Are you sure you wont regret selling it?

What about when you want to put your camera and lens in a small bag or even winter coat pocket?

I’ll stick on my 55. The 2.8 just isn’t wide enough for me. As for winter, I’ll use a bag, or my Retrospective 5 - it’s tiny.

Having used the 35/1.4, I won’t be going back to anything less than a 35/2 (IF and when that ever happens!)

I am certain as Sony FE 35mm f1.8 is coming ;)

I have the Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 but being honest I don't need f1.4-2 all that often with a 35mm lens. Sure f1.x is nice to have but I mostly tend to be in the f2.8 to 11 region and even if going for a portrait with a blurry background I'd still want the head in the dof and at f2.8 if going for a half body shot I'd be lucky to get the head in the dof so again f1.x isn't really where I'd want to be. All in all although I whinge about the 35mm f2.8 being f2.8 I'd probably always still choose it for it's compact size.
