Interesting.. wonder if this can be fixed in firmware, or maybe incorporated into the RAW conversion, especially if its not just Sony related. I guess the issue as mentioned is that there are more AF points on the Sony sensor, which I guess will become the norm for most mirrorless cameras in the future.

Jonney doesn't need it, he already said his cameras aren't effected. They are special.

I wouldn't say the norm because I don't think this is an issue with canon's dual pixel AF

PDAF striping is one of those annoying issues which only shows up sometimes, and which depending on the kind of photography you practice, you might never see. Pretty sure they said it can happen at any aperture but wouldn't be surprised if it's more prone to the problem the larger the aperture.

Well... You can say it's the norm with cameras using hybrid PDAF. Even so as dpreview said it's not seen or have been reproduced in all bodies with hybrid PDAF...

I don't thing *currently* many other brands have as many sensors as the current Sony's.

Maybe other makes have seen this issue, but have already implemented a fix in firmware.. I guess we will never know, but more importantly, there is already a fix, albeit in post processing.

It's concept issue cos the pixels are shared so less DR. This probably also effects iso.

That is a good point you make. This is because other brands such as Fuji license one sensor from Sony and they reuse it. Sony on the other hand have more options...

How does it compare to your copy though? Do the aperture blades make as much noise when working as the focus motor?

Sounds the same in your video, honestly not noticed it until you pointed it out.

I have a friend that is very talented photographer; mostly events. He has done a number of weddings, although doesn't like the hassle of doing photo albums or working weekends.

He only uses Fuji for that reason, the out of the camera perfect jpeg skin tones.

He is a bit old school, from a film background. Turns up, takes the photos, and at the end of the event hands over the jpegs unedited.

I think for togs that work with a fast turn around, perfect skin tones and white balance from the camera jpegs are priceless.

I guess that is why a lot of them shoot Canon at the Olympics, like you said, editorial, fast sports events, you need to shoot and upload to Reuter within minutes of whoever won the 100m Gold. You want to be the first to upload that finish line photo up online. You shoot jpeg, you don't edit, you just get it done and send it out.

How much did you get the Zeiss 35 for?

Funny you mention the Canon 50/1.0….I thought about it but it's too expensive and hard to find. Funny fact, the 50/1.2 isn't its true successor, the 85/1.2 is.

Yeah not a fan of the 50mm/1.2, I almost prefer the canon 50mm/1.4.
Well I know someone selling 50mm f1 for £2300. But they hadn't found a customer in ages... Expensive is one thing it's also hard to come by
