I too dont know many who owns a 70-200 f2.8 lens let alone a 300/400 prime!
You cant even go and try these sorts of lenses in places like park camera's or jessops.
they are many wildlife and sports toggers but they dont represent the whole population of pro photographers.
So to be specific, the lenses for wildlife and sport is lacking

Funnily enough I think the old Minolta 85mm/1.4 is actually the fastest focussing and smallest 85mm f1.4 lens![]()

Tiny without the adapter, screw drive though isn't it? So thats why.
yes and screw drives aren't best at AF-C sometimes![]()
